What counts as a PvE extraction shooter?
An extraction shooter asks you to enter a dangerous map, collect weapons or resources, complete objectives, and leave through an extraction point. Your haul normally improves your next run, while dying can cost some or all of what you carried. A PvE version replaces human opponents with AI enemies; some games also let you play entirely solo, while others are designed around a co-op squad.

That distinction matters for ARC Raiders players. The game combines surface scavenging, returning with resources, cross-platform social play and hostile machines, but its standard experience includes the possibility of meeting rival players. The recommendations below separate games with no PvP from games where PvP remains central.

The best PvE extraction shooters like ARC Raiders
1. The Forever Winter — closest pure-PvE atmosphere
Choose it if: you want co-op scavenging, enormous machines and a bleak science-fiction battlefield without other players hunting you.
The Forever Winter is the closest thematic match for the part of ARC Raiders that feels like a desperate salvage expedition. PC Gamer described it on November 10, 2025 as “pure co-op PvE, with humans facing off against brutal AI enemies split into warring factions.” That sentence captures its defining pressure: you are not simply clearing a shooting gallery. Multiple AI groups contest the same war zone, and surviving means reading the battlefield, choosing when to move and deciding how much loot is worth the risk.
The Steam community description presents a tactical shooter in which a squad loots the dead beneath gargantuan war machines. Those machines are more than scenery. Their scale creates the same feeling of being a small scavenger operating inside a conflict that is much larger than your team. The result is a heavier, grimmer mood than ARC Raiders rather than a colorful third-person adventure tone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow its PvE loop differs from ARC Raiders
- Threats are factional: hostile AI groups can be fighting one another, so positioning and timing matter as much as aim.
- Co-op is the point: the game is presented as a squad experience, making communication and role coverage more important than a lone-wolf build.
- Loot is dangerous to obtain: scavenging the dead puts you under pressure from machines and warring forces rather than from rival human raiders.
- The atmosphere is harsher: expect a war-torn, oppressive setting instead of the lighter adventure framing associated with ARC Raiders.
Who should skip it?
Players looking for a polished, finished live-service experience should note that The Forever Winter is marked Early Access on Steam. Early Access can mean changing balance, unfinished systems and a roadmap that alters the extraction loop. Confirm the current Steam price and Early Access status when you are ready to buy; neither should be inferred from an older listing.
Verdict
This is the best first stop for a co-op group whose priority is “ARC Raiders, but the enemies are all AI and the world is more brutal.” It is less suitable if you primarily play alone or want realistic modern military equipment.
2. Gray Zone Warfare — tactical, PvE-first open world
Choose it if: you value realistic weapons, long-form missions and a military setting more than ARC Raiders’ colorful sci-fi presentation.

The official Gray Zone Warfare site calls it a PvE-first open-world tactical shooter set on a quarantined island, and its Steam community description uses the same positioning. That makes it a useful alternative for players who want extraction tension but prefer methodical movement, weapon handling and mission planning over arcade-style action.
What the open-world structure changes
Rather than treating every run as a short arena match, Gray Zone Warfare frames its activity around a persistent island and large-scale objectives. You should expect more time spent navigating, preparing a loadout, approaching a location and extracting safely. The appeal is the operation as a whole: reconnaissance, engagement and withdrawal.
- Military realism: the setting and weapon focus suit players who want a grounded tactical tone.
- Longer commitment: open-world missions can demand more planning and travel than a compact raid.
- Online dependence: it is an online, evolving product, so server rules and available modes can change.
- PvE details can vary: verify the currently sold US edition and whether any PvE-server restrictions apply before purchase.
How it compares with the other recommendations
Gray Zone Warfare is more realistic and military-focused than The Forever Winter, but it does not offer that game’s giant-machine, faction-war spectacle. It is also less immediately approachable than Escape from Duckov. Choose it when tactical authenticity and a broad mission space are the deciding factors.
Verdict
For a player asking for a PvE extraction shooter with serious gunplay and an open-world operation structure, this is the strongest fit. Check the current storefront description and server options because its online systems are still evolving.
3. Escape from Duckov — best solo and approachable option
Choose it if: you want to play alone, prefer a top-down view and would rather learn extraction mechanics through a less intimidating presentation.
Recommended Free Tools
GamesRadar reported on October 20, 2025 that Escape from Duckov is a PvE take on Escape from Tarkov. Its structure includes top-down raids, scavenging, an upgradeable base, a skill tree and crafting. Those systems provide the satisfying preparation-and-recovery rhythm of an extraction game without requiring you to coordinate a full squad or master a first-person military simulation.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Why it works for solo players
- Top-down perspective: you can read the immediate battlefield and manage threats without the visual intensity of a first-person raid.
- Clear long-term progression: base upgrades, skills and crafting give successful extractions a purpose beyond one inventory screen.
- Solo-friendly design: the cited coverage presents it as a PvE game rather than a contest against other players.
- Lower barrier to entry: its presentation is more approachable than the grim realism of a military sim.
Price and sales figures, with the dates attached
GamesRadar reported an $18 full price in 2025. That is a historical figure, not a guarantee of the current US price, so check the live store listing before buying. The same report said a Steam post from Team Soda reported more than 500,000 copies sold by October 19, 2025. That sales count is also a dated milestone, not a current total.
Trade-offs
The top-down format and lighter presentation may not satisfy players who want the cinematic third-person scale of ARC Raiders or the weapon realism of Gray Zone Warfare. It is best understood as an accessible solo extraction framework, not a direct visual replacement.
Verdict
If your question is “Is there a PvE extraction shooter without other players that I can play solo?” this is the clearest recommendation. It preserves raids, loot, upgrades and crafting while reducing the intimidation factor.

4. Hunt: Showdown 1896 — for PvPvE bounty tension
Choose it if: you still want human rivals, but you want the extraction objective to revolve around monsters, bosses and bounty decisions.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is not a no-PvP answer. Crytek’s official store describes a race in which competing Hunters track bosses, claim a bounty and fight to extract. Steam identifies the game as online PvP with co-op. The monsters supply the PvE objective, but other teams are an intentional part of every high-value decision.
Why it belongs in this comparison
Some ARC Raiders players do not hate PvP; they dislike extraction games where PvP is the only meaningful activity. Hunt: Showdown 1896 gives human conflict a clear purpose. You investigate a target, spend resources fighting it, pick up a bounty that reveals your position and then decide whether to leave or challenge the teams converging on you.

- High-value extraction: claiming the bounty creates a visible, contestable endgame.
- Human ambushes: rival Hunters can interrupt any stage of the plan.
- Co-op support: online squads can share the burden of tracking and defending the bounty.
Price note
The Steam crawl exposed DLC prices ranging from $1.99 to $19.99, but it did not provide a dependable current US base-game price. Recheck the game’s own US storefront for the entry cost and any edition differences.
Verdict
Pick this only if “PvE-like” means boss hunting and extraction stakes, not the removal of human opponents. It is the least suitable choice for someone specifically seeking a PvE-only environment.

If you want zero PvP
Start with The Forever Winter for co-op or Escape from Duckov for solo play. Both recommendations are framed around AI threats rather than rival players. Gray Zone Warfare can also fit a PvE-first preference, but verify the current server and edition rules because it is an online product that continues to evolve.
If you play alone
Escape from Duckov is the safest recommendation. Its top-down raids, base progression, skill tree and crafting are explicitly presented as a PvE structure. The Forever Winter is more compelling for a regular group, while Gray Zone Warfare expects a greater commitment to online tactical play.
If you have a regular co-op squad
Choose The Forever Winter when the fantasy is surviving beneath giant machines and navigating AI factions. Choose Gray Zone Warfare when your group prefers realistic weapons, open-world missions and military planning.

If you want the closest atmosphere to ARC Raiders
The Forever Winter is the nearest match because both emphasize scavenging in a machine-dominated science-fiction conflict. The mood is darker and the game is Early Access, so do not expect a one-to-one replacement.
ARC Raiders’ temporary PvE matchmaking test
Embark’s official site lists ARC Raiders on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce NOW. It also announced a PvE matchmaking-toggle beta running October 13–20, 2026. Because that window is time-limited, it should not be described as a permanent PvE mode or used as proof that the standard game has no PvP.
If you are deciding what to play during the test, check the in-game matchmaking options and the latest announcement immediately before launching. A beta toggle can have different availability, queue rules or matchmaking behavior from the regular service, and the test may end after October 20.
Practical buying and setup checklist
- Decide whether “PvE” means no human enemies. If yes, remove Hunt: Showdown 1896 from your shortlist.
- Choose solo or squad first. Pick Escape from Duckov for solo-friendly progression; pick The Forever Winter or Gray Zone Warfare when you have co-op partners.
- Match the tone to your preference. Giant machines and grim science fiction point to The Forever Winter; realistic military operations point to Gray Zone Warfare; an approachable top-down style points to Escape from Duckov.
- Check the live US storefront. Prices change, and the cited $18 figure for Escape from Duckov came from 2025. Current US prices for The Forever Winter, Gray Zone Warfare and Hunt: Showdown 1896 were not consistently visible in the cited pages.
- Read the status label. The Forever Winter is marked Early Access on Steam. Gray Zone Warfare is an online evolving product, so server restrictions and editions deserve a current check.
- Confirm platform availability. The platform list above is established for ARC Raiders; do not assume that every alternative supports the same console, PC or cloud services.
Common mistakes when replacing ARC Raiders
Assuming every extraction game is PvE
Extraction is a format, not a promise about opponents. Hunt: Showdown 1896 demonstrates the difference: monsters create the objective, but rival Hunters create the decisive danger.
Using a historical price as today’s price
The $18 figure for Escape from Duckov was reported in 2025. Treat it as a dated reference only. Store prices, regional taxes, editions and promotions can change.
Expecting identical pacing
The Forever Winter emphasizes factional AI and giant machines, Gray Zone Warfare emphasizes realistic open-world operations, and Escape from Duckov uses a top-down solo-friendly structure. They share extraction concepts, not identical combat or pacing.
Ignoring Early Access and live-service changes
An Early Access label or evolving online product can mean balance changes, altered progression and changing server rules. Read the current store and patch information rather than relying on an older recommendation.
