For a 1080p pre-recorded stream sent to YouTube through Restream, use a 1920×1080 file with H.264 video, AAC audio, and a keyframe interval of 2 seconds. Keep the source’s native 30 or 60 fps; if you are preparing an H.264 file, use constant bitrate (CBR) where practical. As a YouTube live-ingest reference, use 5 Mbps at 1080p30 or 6 Mbps at 1080p60. Those bitrate figures are YouTube recommendations for live ingestion—not a Restream upload limit or a promise about how Restream handles your file.
Recommended Restream settings at a glance
| Setting | Use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Container | MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV | These are the containers Restream lists as accepted for pre-recorded uploads. |
| Resolution | 1920×1080 | Restream recommends Full HD for pre-recorded video. |
| Frame rate | 30 or 60 fps | Preserve the source rate where practical. Use the corresponding YouTube bitrate reference below. |
| Video codec | H.264 | Required by Restream for pre-recorded uploads. |
| Rate control | CBR, if encoding or re-encoding | Restream suggests CBR. Pre-recorded files are often VBR and may need re-encoding to meet the listed requirements. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Restream requires a keyframe value of 2; YouTube recommends a two-second interval for live encoder ingestion. |
| Audio codec | AAC | Required by Restream for pre-recorded uploads. |
| YouTube H.264 live-ingest reference | 5 Mbps at 1080p30; 6 Mbps at 1080p60 | These are YouTube’s recommended live-ingest bitrates, not Restream file-upload requirements. |
| Extra video at start and end | 15–20 seconds at each end | Restream recommends this buffer to give destinations processing time and reduce the risk of cutting off important content. |
Restream’s current requirements and workflow are described in its pre-recorded video requirements and event scheduling instructions.
Choose the right bitrate: live ingestion is not VOD uploading
A pre-recorded Restream event starts with a file, but Restream sends the event to YouTube as a live stream. For that destination stream, use YouTube’s live-encoder guidance as the bitrate reference: its H.264 recommendations are 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps for 1080p60. YouTube lists 4 Mbps as the minimum for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps as the minimum for 1080p60. Select the row that matches the actual frame rate rather than choosing a bitrate based only on resolution.
Do not substitute YouTube’s finished-video upload settings. For 1080p SDR VOD uploads, YouTube lists 8 Mbps at standard frame rates (24, 25, or 30 fps) and 12 Mbps at high frame rates (48, 50, or 60 fps). Those recommendations describe a different pipeline from a scheduled file sent out as a live event. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and recommended upload encoding settings.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube also lists live-ingest recommendations for AV1 and H.265/HEVC, but Restream’s cited pre-recorded upload requirements call for H.264 video and AAC audio. For a Restream pre-recorded upload, follow Restream’s source-file requirements rather than assuming YouTube’s broader encoder codec list applies to that upload workflow.
Prepare and check the video file
- Check the container and codecs. Confirm the file is MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV; its video is H.264; and its audio is AAC. Restream lists H.264 and AAC as required parameters for pre-recorded uploads.
- Confirm resolution and frame rate. Set or retain 1920×1080 and preserve the source’s native 30 or 60 fps where practical. Avoid changing frame rate without a reason, since the matching YouTube bitrate reference depends on the output rate.
- If you re-encode, select CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval. Use the YouTube H.264 live-ingest recommendation that matches the output frame rate as a destination reference. Restream does not publish one universal bitrate requirement for every destination in its cited requirements page.
- Add a buffer. Include 15–20 seconds of lead-in before the important content and 15–20 seconds of tail after it, following Restream’s guidance.
- Review the whole export. Check audio, motion, framing, and the beginning and end of the file before scheduling. YouTube advises testing a live stream with audio and movement similar to the planned event; its live-encoder guidance also recommends monitoring stream health and messages.
Schedule the pre-recorded event to YouTube in Restream
- In Restream, choose New Stream, then choose Pre-recorded livestream.
- Select a video you have already uploaded to Restream, or upload the prepared file.
- Enter the event details and choose its scheduled date and time.
- Enable the intended YouTube channel. Confirm that it is the correct channel before creating the event.
- Review the title, schedule, destination, and selected source video, then create the event.
Restream says the scheduled event starts automatically at its scheduled time. Its documentation notes that manual starts may be required for some other destinations; for this workflow, verify the YouTube channel and event in advance. See Restream’s scheduling instructions and its YouTube destination guidance.

Account limits and looping
Restream’s help documentation has described pre-recorded streaming as available to all users, while video size and storage limits depend on add-on tier. The cited documentation lists Premier at 1080p and up to two hours, Marathon at 1080p and up to four hours, and Media at 4K and up to twelve hours. Plan names, limits, and commercial terms can change, so check the limits shown in your own account before relying on them.
Restream’s documentation also describes an option to loop a scheduled pre-recorded event up to 10 times. Check the current event controls and account limits if you need a repeat broadcast; do not assume that looping changes the source-file requirements or YouTube’s live-ingest settings.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Restream rejects the file: Check that the container is MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV and that the video and audio codecs are H.264 and AAC. Re-encode if the file does not meet the documented requirements.
- The event is not appearing on the intended channel: Reopen the event settings and confirm that the correct YouTube channel is enabled. Check the selected source, event details, and scheduled time before the start.
- The stream looks soft or unstable: Confirm that the file is actually 1920×1080 and that its encoded frame rate matches the bitrate reference you selected. YouTube’s 5 Mbps recommendation is for H.264 1080p30; its 6 Mbps recommendation is for H.264 1080p60.
- A clip at the beginning or end is missing: Add the 15–20-second lead-in and tail Restream recommends, then upload or select the revised file for the event.
- The event does not meet the intended duration or size: Check your account’s current storage and video-length limits. Restream’s documented tier limits may change.
- YouTube reports a stream-health issue: Review YouTube’s live control-room messages and stream health, and test ahead of time with representative audio and movement. The cited pages do not give a numeric internet upload-speed target for Restream’s pre-recorded upload workflow.
Copyright and monetization checks
Pre-recorded delivery does not remove YouTube’s content rules. Before scheduling, make sure you have the necessary rights or permissions for gameplay footage, music, overlays, and any other included material, and review any notices or restrictions YouTube shows for the channel or event. A technically valid file does not establish that the content is eligible for monetization or free of copyright claims. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance is a useful place to check destination-side controls.
