Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For a typical 1080p loop sourced at 30 fps, start with 1080p30, H.264 at 14 Mbps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval. Use 1080p60 only when the source contains meaningful 60-fps motion and your sustained upload can support its higher recommended bitrate. YouTube’s live-ingest guidance also calls for RTMP or RTMPS and about 20% upload headroom. These are YouTube recommendations, not a hands-on test of a particular Restream setup.
Recommended settings for a 1080p YouTube loop
Match the stream’s frame rate to the source rather than increasing it automatically. A mostly static scene or slow-moving loop usually has no practical reason to be sent at 60 fps if it was made at 30 fps. The 30-versus-60 recommendation is an inference from the source characteristics and YouTube’s distinct bitrate guidance, not a comparative test.
| Source and stream | Video codec | YouTube recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | H.264 | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | H.264 | 17 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 12 Mbps |
YouTube also lists minimums: 5 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30; 4 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC at 1080p30; 6 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60; and 4 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC at 1080p60. The table’s higher values are YouTube’s recommendations, accessed 2026-10-03; the help page does not state a publication date. They are live-ingest values, not settings for uploading a finished video file. YouTube says its guidance depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
Use a lower bitrate or format if upload is limited
Choose the recommended bitrate only if your sustained outbound bandwidth can carry it with headroom. If it cannot, lower the stream bitrate or reduce resolution or frame rate rather than aiming at an unstable target. Do not assume a codec-specific recommendation applies unless the encoder path you are using supports that codec.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Encoder settings that matter
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS ingest.
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframes: every 2 seconds; do not set an interval longer than 4 seconds.
- Video: H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1, subject to support in the selected Restream encoder path.
- Audio: AAC or MP3. YouTube’s audio guidance lists stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- SDR color: Rec. 709 and 8-bit. YouTube’s advanced guidance also recommends square pixels and progressive scan.
Check your encoder’s available codec, audio, and protocol options before entering values. YouTube’s recommendations describe the receiving ingest; the Restream workflow that supplies a prerecorded video is a separate part of the setup.
Check upload bandwidth before starting
Use outbound upload capacity, not download speed, to judge whether a stream can remain stable. YouTube advises that total outgoing bitrate must fit available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% room. Its guidance applies to the full outgoing load, including primary and backup streams if you use both. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing the connection under realistic conditions; a network interruption can break a live stream.

- Measure sustained upload performance on the connection and equipment you will use for the stream.
- Account for the stream’s full outgoing bitrate and any backup feed, then keep approximately 20% headroom.
- If the connection cannot sustain that load, reduce bitrate or choose a lower resolution or frame rate before going live.
- Test with representative audio and movement, and check that the stream appears in YouTube’s preview.
Configure YouTube’s stream controls deliberately
YouTube’s stream key and stream URL tell an encoder where to send its feed. Treat the key like a password; anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream. A reusable custom key can preserve settings between streams. In YouTube’s live controls, choose public, private, or unlisted visibility, and schedule the stream if needed. You can also choose a latency setting and enable DVR, which lets viewers pause and resume a live stream. YouTube explains its live stream settings.
For a loop without live interaction, low latency may be less important than playback stability: YouTube notes that lower latency can mean more buffering. Check the preview and stream-health messages before relying on the stream, and follow YouTube’s guidance to set up the encoder ahead of time. If you archive the stream, check the local recording for integrity.

Confirm Restream’s loop workflow and account limits
YouTube ingest settings do not establish how a particular Restream account loops prerecorded media. Restream’s current click path for looping and any plan or duration restrictions should be confirmed in its current interface or official documentation. Do not assume a specific menu sequence or unlimited duration based only on the ingest values above.
