| Gigabyte Aorus RTX 4070 Ti Master | Large cases and features | LCD display, dual BIOS, anti-sag bracket | Huge footprint for a small performance gain | Choose for features, not dramatically higher FPS |
| Gigabyte Eagle or Gaming OC | Discounted value | Competent cooling without premium extras | Less premium materials on some models | A rational choice when substantially cheaper |
| Zotac Trinity or Amp Airo | Discounts and practical alternatives | Often competitive pricing and varied sizes | Dimensions differ significantly by variant | Check the exact model specification |
| PNY Verto or XLR8 | Budget-focused buyers | Comparable performance at a lower price | Some versions are long and heavy | Strong value if warranty and fit are satisfactory |
| RTX 4070 Ti Super | Best 2024 purchase overall | 16GB VRAM and 256-bit bus at a $799 launch price | Partner-card dimensions and prices vary | Prefer an affordable ASUS TUF, MSI, Gigabyte, PNY, or Zotac model |
Partner cards use the same underlying GPU, so differences in advertised boost clocks rarely translate into major frame-rate differences. Cooler design, noise, physical clearance, warranty, and price matter more. Reviews of both generations show that competing models are generally separated by only a few percentage points in performance.

RTX 4070 Ti vs. RTX 4070 Ti Super
The RTX 4070 Ti Super became available on January 24, 2024. Its $799 starting price matched the original RTX 4070 Ti’s launch MSRP, making the original model harder to recommend unless clearance or used-market pricing is considerably lower.
| Specification | RTX 4070 Ti | RTX 4070 Ti Super |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Ada Lovelace | Ada Lovelace |
| CUDA cores | 7,680 | 8,448 |
| VRAM | 12GB GDDR6X | 16GB GDDR6X |
| Memory bus | 192-bit | 256-bit |
| Memory speed | 21Gbps | 21Gbps |
| Launch MSRP | $799 | $799 |
| Best target | High-end 1440p; usable 4K | High-end 1440p with better 4K headroom |
See NVIDIA’s official comparison for the listed specifications. The Super’s extra 4GB of VRAM and wider memory interface matter more for demanding 4K textures, ray tracing, mods, and longer ownership than a 30–100MHz factory-clock increase.
That does not make the original Ti unusable. Its 12GB is generally adequate for many 1440p games, but it leaves less margin at 4K and in future demanding titles. If the two versions cost nearly the same, buy the Ti Super.

Cooling and acoustics
A capable cooler helps a card maintain boost behavior while keeping fan noise under control. It also gives you more flexibility to use a quiet fan curve or undervolt. The original RTX 4070 Ti is not an especially high-power card by RTX 4090 standards, so a competent dual- or triple-fan design is normally sufficient.
Larger coolers can be useful in a quiet PC, a warm room, or a case with mediocre airflow, but size alone is not proof of superior temperatures. In TechSpot’s RTX 4070 Ti testing, the Gigabyte Eagle reached approximately 61°C GPU temperature and 70°C hotspot after an hour in a 21°C ambient test setup. Those are laboratory results, not universal owner expectations; BIOS mode, case airflow, ambient temperature, fan profile, and workload all change the outcome.
For the Ti Super, TechSpot measured the MSI Ventus 3X at about 32dBA in its setup and found the ASUS TUF similarly quiet with a lower hotspot temperature. Treat those figures as comparative review data, not guarantees for every retail sample.
Factory boost clocks
A premium factory overclock may raise the listed boost clock, but NVIDIA GPU Boost already adjusts frequency dynamically. The resulting gaming advantage is usually modest. Do not pay a large premium for a number on the specification sheet.
BIOS modes and features
Some cards include performance and silent BIOS modes. These can alter fan behavior, power limits, and review results. MSI’s Suprim X, for example, offers dual BIOS, Gaming and Silent modes, and an Extreme Performance mode selectable through MSI Center.
LCD screens, RGB lighting, metal shrouds, support brackets, and elaborate packaging are valid preferences, but they do not increase frame rates. They are worth paying for only when the additional cost is reasonable.
Price premium
As a practical buying rule:
- A 0–3% premium is reasonable for a better cooler, quieter BIOS, stronger support, or preferred dimensions.
- A 3–8% premium needs a clear benefit such as lower noise or easier compatibility.
- A premium above 8–10% is usually poor value unless the model offers a feature you specifically need.
- If a premium card approaches the price of a faster GPU tier, compare that faster card instead.
These are buying recommendations, not manufacturer specifications. Always compare actual U.S. street prices at the time of purchase rather than relying on the 2024 MSRP.
Best original RTX 4070 Ti models
1. ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OC — best overall
The ASUS TUF is the safest all-round recommendation for the original RTX 4070 Ti. It combines a substantial cooler and robust construction with a more practical footprint than the largest MSI and Gigabyte premium cards. TechSpot favored its build quality over the plastic-shrouded Gigabyte Eagle and described it as substantially smaller and lighter than the Aorus Master and MSI Suprim X.
Buy it when it is close in price to the least-expensive reputable model and you value a sturdy cooler and restrained design. Do not pay a large premium: it will not transform performance, and the original card’s 12GB remains its main limitation in a 2024 build.

2. MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Suprim X — best premium model
The Suprim X is built for buyers who want a premium card rather than maximum value. MSI lists a boost clock of up to 2745MHz in Gaming and Silent modes, or 2760MHz in Extreme Performance mode through MSI Center. It has 12GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory, a TRI FROZR 3S triple-fan cooler, dual BIOS, 285W power consumption, and a recommended 750W PSU.
Its listed dimensions are 338 × 142 × 73mm, approximately 3.5 slots. That makes case compatibility a serious concern. TechSpot also found its tested sample’s hotspot and memory temperatures less impressive than its enormous cooler might suggest. That result applies to the tested card and configuration, not every unit.
Choose the Suprim X for dual-BIOS flexibility, premium construction, or a particular aesthetic. Avoid it if the price approaches a faster-tier GPU or your case has limited clearance. Check MSI’s exact specification page before buying.
3. Gigabyte Aorus RTX 4070 Ti Master — best for large cases and features
The Aorus Master is an oversized feature-rich card. Gigabyte lists a 2670MHz core clock, an LCD Edge View display, RGB Fusion lighting, dual BIOS, a metal backplate, and an anti-sag bracket. Gigabyte also advertises a four-year warranty after online registration, although warranty duration and registration rules vary by region.
The large cooler is useful for buyers with spacious cases and quiet-build priorities, but TechSpot found only a small thermal improvement over the tested Eagle despite the much larger footprint. Its LCD, RGB, and support hardware—not a major frame-rate advantage—are the reasons to choose it.
Check Gigabyte’s model page for the exact regional specification.
4. Gigabyte Gaming OC or Eagle — best value when discounted
The Eagle used in TechSpot’s baseline testing followed NVIDIA’s reference clock and still produced strong thermal results in that test. A Gaming OC or Eagle can therefore be a more rational purchase than the Aorus Master when it is meaningfully cheaper and its noise level is acceptable.
The Eagle’s plastic shroud is less premium than the ASUS TUF’s metal construction, and Eagle, Gaming OC, and other revisions do not necessarily share the same dimensions or clocks. Use the exact model number rather than assuming all Gigabyte cards are identical.
5. Zotac Trinity or Amp Airo — practical alternatives
Zotac’s Trinity and Amp families are worth considering when discounted or when their design suits your case. Tom’s Hardware measured the tested Zotac RTX 4070 Ti Amp Airo at approximately 310 × 123 × 56mm, including its backplate—smaller than some premium competitors, but still not a compact card.
Dimensions differ between Trinity, Trinity OC, Amp, and special editions. Zotac’s catalog lists model-level differences. Avoid paying extra for a special-edition appearance.
6. PNY Verto or XLR8 — best budget-oriented candidate
PNY should not be dismissed simply because it has less enthusiast-brand visibility. Tom’s Hardware found its RTX 4070 Ti Super Verto Epic-X RGB OC performed very close to competing ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and Zotac models, with noise and temperature more meaningful than small frame-rate differences.

Which RTX 4070 Ti Super should you buy?
For a new 2024 purchase, start with affordable partner models rather than automatically choosing the most elaborate cooler. ASUS TUF, MSI Ventus or Gaming, Gigabyte Gaming OC, PNY Verto or XLR8, and Zotac Trinity are all sensible families to compare. At similar prices, choose based on size, measured acoustics, warranty, and return policy; third-party testing indicates that partner-card performance is generally very close.
Use the ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, PNY, and Zotac manufacturer pages to confirm the precise model, dimensions, connector, and warranty terms.
Gaming performance and resolution
1440p
The RTX 4070 Ti is an excellent high-refresh-rate 1440p GPU. It is particularly well suited to ray-traced games when DLSS is available. At 1080p, it can be excessive for ordinary gaming unless you are targeting very high refresh rates or using the GPU for other workloads; CPU limits also become more likely.
Recommended Free Tools
4K
The card is capable at 4K, especially with DLSS, but native 4K ultra settings are not guaranteed to remain comfortable in the newest games. The Ti Super is the safer long-term 4K choice because its 16GB memory capacity and wider bus provide more headroom.
Ray tracing and DLSS
NVIDIA’s RTX 40-series platform includes ray tracing, DLSS 3, Reflex, and creator-oriented features. These are platform advantages, not guaranteed frame-rate increases in every game: results depend on game support, settings, CPU performance, and whether the title benefits from upscaling or frame generation.
Power, connectors, and case compatibility
Do not buy based on a generic “three-slot” label. Check the exact manufacturer page for:
- Length in millimeters.
- Maximum thickness and occupied expansion slots.
- Width at the thickest point.
- Clearance beside the power connector.
- Front-radiator and front-fan interference.
- Neighboring PCIe-slot blockage.
- Whether a support bracket is included.
For scale, MSI lists the Suprim X at 338 × 142 × 73mm and a recommended 750W PSU. Other models may have different power limits, dimensions, adapter arrangements, and recommendations. The Zotac Amp Airo example is approximately 310 × 123 × 56mm, while Tom’s Hardware noted that the tested PNY Ti Super was roughly 3cm longer and 224g heavier than the ASUS TUF model in its comparison.
Confirm that your PSU has sufficient wattage and the required PCIe power leads. If the PSU lacks a native compatible connector, use the supplied adapter exactly as instructed. Make sure the 16-pin connector is fully seated, avoid sharply bending the cable immediately beside the plug, and leave room behind it before closing the side panel. Do not assume every RTX 4070 Ti uses the same number of 8-pin cables.
Common problems to check before buying
Coil whine
Coil whine varies between individual cards and systems. It can change with frame rate, power draw, and game engine, so a quiet review sample does not prove every retail card will be quiet. Check the retailer’s return policy before purchase. Frame-rate limiting or V-Sync can sometimes change the sound, but neither is a guaranteed cure.
BIOS differences
Performance and silent BIOS settings can change fan behavior and measured temperatures. If a review result seems inconsistent with another, check the selected BIOS, fan profile, ambient temperature, and test case.
Model revisions and regional variants
A shared product name may cover different cooler revisions, dimensions, accessories, clocks, and warranty terms in different markets. Match the exact model number on the manufacturer’s site to the retailer listing.

Used cards
A used original RTX 4070 Ti can make sense after the Ti Super launch, but ask for the original receipt and check warranty transferability. Inspect the 16-pin connector, fans, support bracket, adapter, and signs of excessive heat exposure. Prefer a transaction with return protection.
Quick Recap
Final buying decision
- If an RTX 4070 Ti Super is within a small premium of the original Ti, buy the Ti Super.
- If choosing the original Ti, start with the ASUS TUF Gaming OC unless another reputable card is meaningfully cheaper.
- Choose MSI Suprim X or Gigabyte Aorus Master for premium features, quieter-build goals, or dual-BIOS flexibility—not for a large expected FPS gain.
- Choose Gigabyte Eagle/Gaming OC, Zotac Trinity, or PNY Verto/XLR8 when they are the cheapest adequate options and their dimensions, noise, and warranty are acceptable.
- Reject any model that does not fit your case, PSU, connector-routing space, or return-policy requirements.
