For Star Wars podracing, play STAR WARS Episode I Racer. For a modern-feeling futuristic anti-gravity racer built around craft mastery, try Redout 2. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled for October 6, 2026, so its announced features are not yet a reviewed playing experience.
Which game should you play?
| Game | Best fit | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| STAR WARS Episode I Racer | Star Wars setting and podracing | A legacy game based on the podrace in The Phantom Menace, with more than 21 podracers, over 21 tracks, and eight worlds, according to its Steam store description. |
| Redout 2 | Futuristic anti-gravity racing and skill-focused competition | Customizable hoverships, a single-player campaign, competitive multiplayer, and a high skill ceiling, according to its Steam listing. |
| Star Wars: Galactic Racer | The upcoming blend of Star Wars craft and racing | Announced for October 6, 2026, with landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers, plus Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade modes. |
STAR WARS Episode I Racer: the closest match for podracing
If the draw is the Star Wars vehicle fantasy itself, Episode I Racer is the clearest choice available now. LucasArts developed the game, and Lucasfilm/Disney published it. Released May 17, 1999, it adapts the podracing sequence from The Phantom Menace. Its Steam description lists more than 21 podracers, over 21 tracks, and eight worlds.
It is a legacy release, not a preview of how a 2026 game will look, feel, or structure its progression. Choose it for the franchise connection and the specific thrill of piloting a podracer, rather than expecting the same presentation or systems as Galactic Racer. See the Steam listing for STAR WARS Episode I Racer.
Redout 2: the pick for anti-gravity craft mastery
Redout 2 is the stronger fit if you want high-speed science-fiction racing but do not need Star Wars lore. Its Steam listing describes a futuristic anti-gravity racer and sequel to Redout, with customizable hoverships, a single-player campaign, competitive multiplayer, and a high skill ceiling. It was released June 16, 2022.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That makes it a closer match for the broad idea of mastering fast futuristic craft than for podracing specifically. The listing’s high-skill-ceiling description is a product feature claim, not a head-to-head performance comparison with Galactic Racer. See the Steam listing for Redout 2.

- Setting and vehicles: Episode I Racer is Star Wars podracing; Redout 2 uses original anti-gravity hoverships; Galactic Racer promises several Star Wars repulsorcraft types.
- Skill focus: Redout 2 explicitly describes a high skill ceiling. Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick described Galactic Racer’s goal as “a racing experience that’s cinematic, skill-driven, and unmistakably Star Wars.” That is the developer’s stated intention, not a verified assessment of the unreleased game.
- Modes: Redout 2’s Steam listing describes campaign and competitive multiplayer. Galactic Racer’s announced modes are Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade; its official announcement does not establish multiplayer particulars.
- Release status: Episode I Racer dates to 1999 and Redout 2 to 2022. Galactic Racer remains scheduled for October 6, 2026.
