For most players, Enigmatica 10 is the best starting point for a science-focused Minecraft playthrough in 2026. It runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, includes both Mekanism and Applied Energistics 2 (AE2), and adds Applied-Mekanistics 1.6.3 to connect those systems through quests. If you want a much stricter, deeper industrial progression and do not mind playing an older Minecraft version, GregTech: New Horizons is the specialist choice. All the Mods 10 is worth investigating as a broad technology sandbox, but the specific claims commonly attached to it were not verified in the available primary material.
There is no authoritative 2026 ranking, download survey, or player-count statistic that proves one pack is universally “best.” The practical choice is determined first by Minecraft version, then by how tightly you want technology progression controlled.

What makes a Minecraft modpack “science” focused?
Science modpacks turn automation into a chain of engineering problems. Instead of adding one machine that solves everything, they ask you to obtain particular materials, generate and distribute power, automate processing, store increasingly complex data, and unlock the next research-like tier.
For this guide, the useful tests are:
- Technical depth: how many stages separate raw resources from advanced machines and endgame production.
- Integration: whether major technology mods share recipes, storage, logistics, and power systems rather than functioning as isolated add-ons.
- Direction: whether quests or a defined progression tell you what to build next.
- Version and stability: the Minecraft release, mod loader, and whether the current pack line is stable or experimental.
- Freedom: how much of the world remains a general sandbox rather than a prescribed industrial sequence.
Those criteria produce different winners. A modern player who wants Mekanism, AE2, and guided quests should start with Enigmatica 10. A player who wants the most demanding GregTech-centered progression should choose GregTech: New Horizons (GTNH), accepting its Minecraft 1.7.10 foundation.

| GregTech: New Horizons | 1.7.10 | Focused, highly gated GregTech progression with a deliberately long industrial path. | Official stable download: 2.8.4. The 2.9 line is beta; an official version-history entry lists 2.9.0-RC-2 Beta on 4 October 2026. | Veterans who want the deepest engineering progression and accept an old game version. |
| All the Mods 10 | Not established in the verified material | Presented as a broad technology sandbox, but pack-specific feature and version claims were not verified here. | Check the current official pack page before installing. | Players who prefer variety and experimentation over a documented, tightly scoped recommendation. |

Enigmatica 10: the best modern starting point
Why it fits a science-oriented playthrough
Enigmatica 10 (E10) is the clearest match when your mental picture of a science pack includes Mekanism machines, AE2 digital storage, automation, and a quest book that turns a large mod collection into a sequence of projects. Its current line targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and uses NeoForge, so it belongs to a completely different generation from GTNH.
The pack’s developer description emphasizes frequent updates so favorite mods can be added when they are considered stable. That rolling approach is useful if you want modern mod releases, but it also means that a world created on one E10 build should not be treated as permanently interchangeable with every later build.

The reviewed E10 mod list includes core Applied Energistics 2 and Mekanism jars plus Applied-Mekanistics 1.6.3, credited in the list to ramidzkh. Applied-Mekanistics is the important detail for a player searching specifically for a “Mekanism plus AE2” pack: it provides integration between the two ecosystems rather than merely placing them side by side.
In practical terms, you can plan a playthrough around Mekanism’s industrial processing and energy systems while using AE2 for networked item and pattern management. The bridge does not make either mod trivial; it gives you a reason to design both systems as one factory. Recipes, machines, and supported integrations can change with pack updates, so check the quest book and the installed version rather than relying on a tutorial made for an earlier E10 release.
Version and release checkpoint
The current release line identified for E10 is Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. A CurseForge listing names 1.33.0 as the latest listed release on 29 September 2026. That date is a snapshot, not a promise that 1.33.0 remains newest after publication.

Do not confuse that current line with an older CurseForge file page identified as a 1.20.0 build. When a launcher offers several E10 files, select the file whose Minecraft version and loader match the world or server you intend to use. Mixing a 1.20.0 instance with a 1.21.1 server, or selecting the wrong loader, can prevent the pack from launching before you reach the world.
What E10 does not establish
The reviewed portion of E10’s mod-list file did not show Create, but the list was not fully verified. Therefore, do not choose E10 on the assumption that Create is included; confirm it in the complete mod list for the exact release you plan to install.
There is also no verified figure for E10’s quest count, completion time, download count, or memory requirement in the available material. Treat hardware advice from unofficial guides as general guidance, not as a specification guaranteed by the pack authors.
Who should choose E10?
- Choose E10 if staying on a current Minecraft release matters more than playing the most restrictive progression pack.
- Choose it if you specifically want Mekanism and AE2 in one quested environment.
- Choose it if you want to switch between technology, exploration, construction, and other included systems instead of following one mandatory industrial route.
- Be cautious if you need a frozen, long-term server instance; rolling releases require you to read update notes and preserve backups.
GregTech: New Horizons: the deepest specialist option
What makes GTNH different
GregTech: New Horizons is described by its official repository as a “big progressive questing modpack for Minecraft 1.7.10 balanced around the mod GregTech.” That description captures its identity: GregTech is not a side activity. It is the organizing framework for resource processing, machine tiers, power, logistics, and progression.
Compared with E10, GTNH is less about assembling a modern collection of powerful mods and more about earning each industrial capability through dependencies. Early infrastructure matters because later recipes build on it. A mistake in material planning can force you to redesign a production line rather than simply craft a higher-tier machine.
Stable and beta versions
The official downloads page labels 2.8.4 as the latest stable download and lists it for Java 17–25. The official version history records 2.8.4 on 23 December 2025. That is the conservative choice for a new long-term world.

The 2.9 series is not the same thing as the stable release. The official history lists 2.9.0-RC-2 Beta on 4 October 2026. A separate overview described the first beta, 2.9.0-beta-1, as arriving on 8 June 2026 and characterized the line as open beta with no fixed stable release at that point. If you select 2.9, expect balance changes, bug fixes, and possible migration concerns; do not begin a server that must remain predictable without reading the specific build notes.
Why the Minecraft version matters
GTNH runs on Minecraft 1.7.10, not 1.21.1. This affects every part of the experience: launcher profile, compatible Java runtime, available mod versions, world-generation behavior, and the tutorials you can follow. A guide written for E10’s 1.21.1 environment is not a GTNH guide simply because both packs contain machines.
The age of the base game is intentional rather than an indication that GTNH is an unfinished modern pack. Its progression and balance are built around that ecosystem. Pick GTNH because you want its design, not because you expect it to behave like a current-version pack.

Learning curve and time commitment
GTNH is widely characterized as long and steep, but no authoritative hours-to-completion measurement was established. Avoid promises such as “finish it in a certain number of hours.” The meaningful commitment is structural: many systems depend on earlier systems, and the pack rewards planning, documentation, and sustained base development.
Claims that GTNH has a specific number of quests or hundreds of technology mods appear in search excerpts without a verified primary source. They are not used here as specifications. Use the quest book and the official release information in your installed version to understand the actual scope.
Who should choose GTNH?
- Choose GTNH if progression gates are the main attraction, not an inconvenience.
- Choose it if you enjoy factory planning, by-products, material chains, and gradually increasing machine tiers.
- Choose the stable 2.8.4 line for a dependable long-term world unless you specifically want to test 2.9 beta.
- Avoid it if your friends require Minecraft 1.21.1 or if you want to freely jump between unrelated mods without following a prescribed technology ladder.
All the Mods 10: a broad option that needs verification
All the Mods 10 (ATM10) belongs on a discovery list for players who want a large technology sandbox, but the available primary material did not verify its Minecraft version, loader, release number, mod count, endgame systems, or world-generation features. That means it cannot responsibly be given the same evidence-backed specification as E10 or GTNH.

Enigmatica 10 versus GregTech: New Horizons
| Decision point | Enigmatica 10 | GregTech: New Horizons |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft base | 1.21.1 | 1.7.10 |
| Loader | NeoForge | Not stated in the verified material |
| Technology approach | Broad pack with quests and multiple technology ecosystems | GregTech-centered, heavily progressive industrial chain |
| Mekanism and AE2 | Both included, with Applied-Mekanistics 1.6.3 connecting them | Not established as the defining combination |
| Release posture | Rolling releases; latest listed 1.33.0 dated 29 September 2026 | Stable 2.8.4; 2.9 is beta |
| Best fit | Current-version players who want flexibility and guided projects | Players seeking the most demanding, long-form progression |
| Main risk | Version drift between rolling updates and existing worlds | Old Minecraft base and beta instability if you choose 2.9 |
The most important row is the first one. These are not two versions of the same pack. Decide whether you are willing to play Minecraft 1.7.10 before comparing individual machines or quest themes.
How to choose in five steps
- Set your Minecraft-version boundary. If you require 1.21.1, shortlist E10. If 1.7.10 is acceptable and a long industrial progression is attractive, shortlist GTNH. If neither is fixed, investigate ATM10’s current official listing.
- Decide whether integration or restriction sounds better. E10 lets Mekanism, AE2, and their bridge support a broad factory. GTNH makes the progression itself the challenge.
- Choose stable or experimental. Use E10’s exact current file or GTNH 2.8.4 for a safer starting point. Treat GTNH 2.9 beta as a test-oriented choice.
- Match the pack to your group. Every player must install the same Minecraft version, loader, pack release, and configuration. A mixed E10/GTNH server is not a compatibility option; they are separate pack families.
- Make a backup plan before updating. Copy the instance and world, record the exact release number, and test an update on a duplicate world before opening the new build to everyone.
Installation and version-safety workflow
For a shared server, Godlike.Host provides modded Minecraft hosting with a built-in mod installer, one-click modpacks, and a Pterodactyl-based game panel. Check the pack’s Minecraft version and loader before deploying.
Installing Enigmatica 10
- In a launcher that supports the pack, search for the exact Enigmatica 10 entry.
- Select a file marked for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Do not select an older 1.20.0 file merely because it appears first in search results.
- Record the pack version, such as the 1.33.0 listing dated 29 September 2026, so every player and server administrator can reproduce the same instance.
- Launch once without adding extra mods. Confirm that the quest book, Mekanism, AE2, and Applied-Mekanistics load before customizing the instance.
- Only then create or import a world. Keep a copy of the original instance before applying future rolling updates.
Installing GregTech: New Horizons
- Use the official GTNH downloads information rather than an old wiki entry or an aggregator that shows a conflicting version.
- For a stable world, select version 2.8.4, identified as the latest stable download on the official page.
- Check the Java requirement shown by the official download entry; the stable listing covers Java 17–25.
- If you choose a 2.9 beta build, label the instance clearly as experimental and keep a separate world backup.
- Do not copy E10 configuration files, resource packs, or tutorials into GTNH unless they explicitly support Minecraft 1.7.10 and the relevant GTNH release.
Updating without losing a world
- Write down the old and new pack versions before changing anything.
- Back up the entire world and the instance configuration, not just the region folder.
- Read the release notes for removed, renamed, or changed mods.
- Open the updated instance on a copy of the world first.
- If the copy fails, restore the original instance rather than repeatedly loading the live world with a different mod set.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Using the wrong Minecraft version
The most common error is selecting a pack name without checking its file metadata. E10’s 1.21.1 line and GTNH’s 1.7.10 line are not interchangeable. A launcher may display both old and current files, while a server host may advertise a pack name without making the exact build obvious. Match Minecraft version and loader before troubleshooting anything else.

Confusing a beta with a stable release
GTNH 2.9 activity does not replace the official stable 2.8.4 download. Beta and release-candidate labels indicate ongoing testing. Use them when you deliberately want to test new work, not when you need the lowest-risk foundation for a shared world.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Trusting outdated version lists
An older Feed The Beast wiki entry lists 2.0.9.0QF4 as current, which conflicts with the official GTNH downloads and version-history pages. When dates and numbers disagree, prefer the official pack pages and the exact launcher file metadata.
Assuming every “tech” pack has the same progression
E10’s broad, integrated approach and GTNH’s GregTech-centered gating produce different daily play. Before installing, decide whether you want optional branches and multiple systems or a tightly ordered industrial ladder. A larger mod list does not automatically mean deeper science gameplay.
Updating a server and clients independently
All players need the same pack release and configuration. If a server updates first, clients may encounter missing mods, mismatched registries, or changed recipes. Schedule updates, distribute the exact version identifier, and retain a rollback copy.
A practical recommendation
Start with Enigmatica 10 when your priorities are Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, Mekanism, AE2, Applied-Mekanistics integration, and a quest-guided but flexible factory. It is the most direct answer to a modern “Mekanism plus Applied Energistics science pack” request.
Choose GregTech: New Horizons 2.8.4 when the point of the game is a demanding, long-form industrial progression and Minecraft 1.7.10 is acceptable. Consider the 2.9 beta only when you understand that it is experimental rather than the stable baseline.
Keep All the Mods 10 on your investigation list if breadth matters most, but verify its current version, loader, included mods, and quests from the official page before committing a world or server. No evidence-supported 2026 ranking makes it safer to recommend blindly than the two better-documented options above.
