How to set up the YouTube side
Qualify the channel first
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days to use live streaming. Live content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube may remove or age-restrict a stream, or restrict a creator’s live-streaming ability. These are platform requirements, not guarantees that any third-party service will remain connected.
Choose a continuous stream or a finite broadcast
Decide whether the goal is a repeating playlist that stays live or a scheduled video that plays once and ends. A scheduled prerecorded broadcast can be useful for a finite program, but it is not interchangeable with a 24/7 loop. Plan for stream limits and archived replays
YouTube Help lists a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Restream’s YouTube setup guidance, dated July 9, 2026, says YouTube has no stream-duration limit but archives only streams under 12 hours. Accordingly, do not promise viewers that one continuous 24/7 broadcast will be available afterward as a single complete YouTube replay. These limits describe YouTube behavior, not a provider’s uptime.

StreamYard also says scheduled broadcasts can be set up to 365 days ahead. For YouTube, its shareable link is created when the announcement post is scheduled, or when the broadcast goes live if no announcement is scheduled. During prerecorded streaming, comments can be viewed on the destination but are not shown on-stream; overlays and media assets cannot be controlled as they can in a normal live studio broadcast. StreamYard says prerecorded streams are no longer automatically saved to its library. These workflow details may matter for promotion and recordkeeping, but they do not turn the finite broadcast feature into a continuous playlist loop.

Troubleshooting a prerecorded YouTube stream
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and whether live-streaming restrictions have applied within the prior 90 days. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before changing providers.
