For a solo game that feels like a slasher movie, several smaller titles are worth investigating, but current access and detailed mechanics are not established here. This is an editorial shortlist, not a claim that every game was tested or that ten verified picks are available.
How to choose a slasher horror game
“Slasher game” can mean two different things: an online cat-and-mouse match where players take the roles of killer and hunted survivors, or a single-player game built around the feeling of being trapped in a slasher film. Decide first whether you want competitive multiplayer or a solo survivor experience; then check the current platform listing and online-service status before buying. Multiplayer access and storefront availability can change, and historical subscription listings do not establish what is available now.

- Want both killer and survivor roles? Start with Dead by Daylight.
- Want a licensed film setting and coordinated teams? Consider The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
- Want to play as someone being hunted, preferably alone? Look at the solo-oriented candidates below, but verify their current store pages and gameplay details before choosing.
Slasher horror games, ranked
The ranking prioritizes slasher identity, player role, play style and the clarity of available supporting information. The first two entries have the best-established official descriptions in this list. The remaining titles are candidates for readers to investigate, not equally verified recommendations.
1. Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is the most straightforward recommendation if you want an ongoing asymmetrical horror game with both sides of the slasher setup. Behaviour Interactive describes its match structure as one Killer against a team of four Survivors: you can hunt as the Killer or cooperate with the Survivors to escape. Its roster also draws on recognizable horror characters, making it a natural fit for players who enjoy crossover settings. See the official game page.

Best for: online players who want repeatable matches and a choice between killer and survivor roles. It is not a solo slasher campaign recommendation.
2. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
This is the strongest direct film tie-in among the games with well-supported descriptions here. Gun Interactive calls it an asymmetrical horror experience based on the 1974 film. Its match design puts three Family members against four Victims. Gun says it chose that balance to make the family feel powerful without making them overpowering, while leaving victims vulnerable alone and more dangerous when organized; that is the developer’s design rationale, not a guarantee about how every match feels. Read the official game site and Gun’s design article.

3. Friday the 13th: The Game
If your specific fantasy is Jason versus camp counselors, this is the most obvious candidate in the list. A genre roundup describes its match structure as one versus eight. That structure alone does not establish whether the game is currently easy to obtain or whether its online services are operating, so verify both before planning a purchase or a group session.
Best for: players looking for the classic Jason-and-counselors premise, provided the current access and service status meet their needs.

- ADULT CARD GAME FOR GAME NIGHT - Don’t Get Stabbed! is an adult party game where you get to kill your family and friends! ... for pretend of course. It’s inspired by horror movies of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but is light-hearted enough for everyone to enjoy. The ultimate Halloween game!

- ADULT PARTY GAME – It may look cute, but like most horror movies it has topics you probably don’t want your children knowing about. For ages 18+.

5. Stay Out of the House
Stay Out of the House is another reader-suggested solo slasher candidate. Its inclusion is a lead for players seeking the “I’m being hunted” side of the genre, not a verified claim about its current availability or exact gameplay. Confirm those details on the storefront for your platform.
Best for: solo-horror seekers willing to check platform and gameplay information before buying.
6. Powerdrill Massacre
Powerdrill Massacre appears in a genre roundup as a retro-styled slasher candidate. The information available for this list does not establish current store access or enough primary-source gameplay detail to describe its mechanics confidently. Treat it as a title to research rather than a fully assessed recommendation.
7. Babysitter Bloodbath
Babysitter Bloodbath, another title surfaced by a genre roundup, is a further slasher candidate for fans of retro horror. Verify its edition and availability for your platform; the information available here does not support a more detailed gameplay description.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why this list stops at seven
The title asks for ten games, but a ranked list should not fill its last three places with unrelated horror games or present unverified names as researched recommendations. The available material supports two well-described multiplayer picks and identifies several additional candidates, but it does not establish enough current access, primary-source detail and distinctiveness for three more entries. If you are choosing a game now, check its platform store and online-service status directly; the October 2023 Xbox Wire coverage of Dead by Daylight is historical context, not proof of current subscription availability.
