There is no single best spell for every fight in Black Myth: Wukong. For a flexible starting point, use Immobilize to create an opening, then choose Cloud Step for a safer escape or Rock Solid if you can time a counter. Add A Pluck of Many when you have room to commit to an offensive burst. The best fit depends on the enemy, your upgrades, and how you prefer to fight.
Which spells should you choose?
Think in terms of jobs rather than a fixed tier list. A useful setup covers control, a defensive answer, and either extra pressure or a playstyle-specific option.

Jason Rodriguez’s Epic Games Store guide, published August 20, 2024, describes spell choices as partly a matter of preference and highlights Immobilize, Rock Solid, and A Pluck of Many among its favored options. A newer role-based loadout guide also recommends pairing a control opener with a defensive reset or counter suited to the fight. These are guide recommendations, not results from controlled performance testing.
How to use the main spells in a fight
Immobilize: turn control into a useful window
Use Immobilize when you need a moment to attack, build Focus, or heal. It is a broadly useful opener, but its practical value depends on the target and the circumstances. Treat it as a chance to act, not as a guarantee that every enemy will remain controlled for an identical duration.

Cloud Step: create space and reset
Choose Cloud Step when the immediate problem is pressure: you need to get clear, regain space, or return to the fight on your terms. Once you have room, use the reset to decide how to re-enter rather than spending the opportunity without a plan.
Rock Solid: counter only when you can read the attack
Rock Solid is a timing-based, parry-like option. It suits an encounter when you recognize the incoming move and can activate the spell at the right moment. If the attack pattern is unfamiliar, Cloud Step offers a different defensive answer that does not depend on landing that timed counter.

A Pluck of Many: spend a safe opening on pressure
A Pluck of Many summons duplicates to increase pressure. It is most attractive when you have a safe opening in which to commit to the spell. Its upgrades can improve clone health, damage, and duration; the final node can allow clones to cast other spells, according to Rodriguez’s guide.
Choose a loadout around your approach
- For a flexible control setup: start with Immobilize, then choose Cloud Step if you want a safer reset or Rock Solid if you can reliably read and time attacks.
- For more offensive pressure: consider A Pluck of Many when the fight gives you a safe chance to use it, and weigh its upgrades as you progress.
- For staff-focused play: consider Spell Binder as an alternative plan. It gives up active spell casting in favor of staff combat, so assess it as a different build direction, not an extra spell to layer into an unchanged setup.
- For positional or defensive experimentation: Ring of Fire is another Mysticism option, although the available guides do not support a definitive comparison with every spell.

The same guide says Sparks are skill points earned by leveling or by first interacting with Meditation Spots. It also describes refunding skills and respeccing, which means a spell setup need not stay fixed when an enemy calls for different defenses or resistances. Consider your available upgrades and the encounter rather than treating an early-game recommendation as permanent.

These spells answer different defensive problems. Use Cloud Step when you need to break contact, restore space, and choose when to return. Use Rock Solid when you understand the incoming attack well enough to attempt a precise counter. If neither choice feels right for a particular fight, reassess the loadout rather than forcing a rigid ranking: the guides describe preference and encounter fit as important, and do not provide controlled comparisons or verified current-patch balance data.
