What order should you play the Spider-Man games?
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Play the first game as either the PS4 Game of the Year Edition or the PS5 Remastered edition.
- The City That Never Sleeps: If you want the full first-game story, play its three expansion chapters after the main game. They are included with both the Game of the Year Edition and Remastered.
- Miles Morales: Continue with Miles’s story, set twelve months after the first game.
- Spider-Man 2: Finish with the sequel, set nine months after Miles Morales, which follows Peter and Miles together.

Which game should you choose?
If you want the complete story
Start with Remastered on PS5 or the Game of the Year Edition on PS4, include The City That Never Sleeps after the first game, then play Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. This order gives the sequel’s Peter-and-Miles partnership its narrative context.
If you have a PS4
Choose the Game of the Year Edition for Peter’s opening story, Miles Morales for a standalone Miles-led follow-up, or both for the two available steps in the series on PS4. PlayStation lists Spider-Man 2 for PS5; it is not a PS4 option.

PS4 and PS5 editions: what to check before buying
Choosing between the first game’s editions
The PS4 Game of the Year Edition and PS5 Remastered both include The City That Never Sleeps. For a PS5 player, Remastered is the PS5 version of the first game; PlayStation describes dynamic 4K/HDR presentation and an optional performance mode described as dynamic 4K/60fps. Display-dependent features require compatible equipment. PlayStation’s Remastered page
Understanding Miles Morales upgrades and the Ultimate Edition
PlayStation’s Miles Morales page lists standard editions for PS4 and PS5 and an Ultimate Edition containing both Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered. Its stated PS4 digital-to-PS5 digital access has conditions: a PS4 disc owner needs to insert the disc into a PS5 with a disc drive, and the PS5 Digital Edition cannot use that disc-based offer. Check PlayStation’s current terms for the account and edition details before purchase. PlayStation
