There is no single best world seed in Stardew Valley. The right choice depends on what you want to accelerate: early crop growth, rainy-day fishing, a rare meteor, an early artifact, or Community Center bundles.
Only five seed recommendations have detailed, version-specific documentation in the current guide by Gab Hernandez (first published November 14, 2024; updated June 17, 2026). Two additional seeds come from community posts and should be treated as reports rather than guaranteed rankings. That shorter, supported shortlist is more useful than inventing twelve unverified entries.

This guide explains what a seed changes, exactly where to enter it, what each documented seed is reported to do, how the two community examples differ, and why the separate Year 1 Community Center guarantee matters.

A world seed is a value entered when you create a new farm. It initializes parts of the game’s random-number sequence, so some outcomes that would otherwise be unpredictable follow a repeatable pattern. The seed does not rewrite every event in the game, and it does not turn a normal farm into a different map layout.
#1 Best Overall
- For 1 to 4 players
- Ages 13+
- About 45 minutes per player
- A cooperative board game
- Based on the hit video game
The Stardew Valley Wiki lists several categories affected by the random seed, including weather, geode contents, Mystery Box contents, randomized stock from certain merchants, and other static randomized outcomes. The exact results still depend on the game version and the other options selected during farm creation.
Seed advice is therefore a configuration-specific shortcut, not a universal guarantee. A seed that produces a particular rainy pattern or shop inventory in one setup can diverge if you use a different randomization mode, a different version, or mods that add items and furniture.
How to enter a seed when starting a new farm
- From the title screen, choose New Game.
- On the farm-creation screen, select the wrench icon to open Advanced Options.
- Find the text field labeled Random Seed and type the seed number exactly. Do not add spaces, commas, or extra characters.
- Review the other advanced settings before pressing OK. In particular, note whether Use Legacy Randomization is enabled and whether you want Guarantee Year 1 Completable turned on.
- Choose your farm type and character settings, then start the game. The seed is fixed for that save; changing it requires creating a new farm.
The seed field was added with the 1.6 new-game options. The five recommendations below are presented for Stardew Valley 1.6 or later, as described by the 2026 update to Hernandez’s guide. The guide says those seeds and other seeds created in 1.6 or later should continue to work, while also warning that later changes affected randomness and predictability.

Do not assume that a seed alone guarantees Community Center completion. The guarantee is a separate checkbox, explained in its own section below.
Five documented seeds, matched to different goals
The table is a quick reference to the five detailed recommendations. The outcomes are reports from Hernandez’s guide, not an independent head-to-head test. Use the goal column to choose a starting point, then read the caveat before committing to a new save.
| Seed | Reported outcome | Best suited to | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| 386531132 | Crop Fairies on Spring 5, Spring 9, and Spring 11 in Year 1. A Crop Fairy instantly grows crops it visits; the guide also reports a possible windstorm that can knock down the large Cindersap Forest tree. | Players who want unusually fast early crop growth. | The dates and windstorm are the guide’s report for its stated version and setup. |
| 383972325 | Nine rainy Spring days, an amethyst in the Mayor’s Trash, and an artifact near Marnie’s on Day 1. Rain also enables catfish appearances. | Players prioritizing less manual watering and rainy-day fishing. | Use the schedule as a version-specific report, not a permanent rule for every configuration. |
| 309181356 | At least one meteor event toward the end of Year 1. Meteorites provide Iridium Ore and have a low chance of a Prismatic Shard. | Players who want a rare event and possible resource upside. | A meteor does not promise a Prismatic Shard; the guide’s event report is not a guarantee of a particular drop. |
| 378045676 | A chance of an Ancient Seed artifact near Robin’s on Day 1 and a Crop Fairy on Spring 11. | Players willing to restart for an early artifact opportunity. | The guide attributes first-day variability to creator Phil Chill; reloading may be necessary, and the Ancient Seed is not guaranteed on every attempt. |
| 203853655 | Useful Traveling Cart bundle items across Year 1, including Duck Feather on Spring 5, Large Goat Milk on Spring 21, and Red Cabbage on Fall 12, plus other reported bundle help. | Players pursuing an earlier Community Center completion. | Cart purchases still require considerable gold. The reported Red Cabbage item is not the same as a guaranteed Red Cabbage Seed sale. |
386531132: the early crop-acceleration choice
This is the clearest pick for a player whose first priority is turning a small opening field into a productive one quickly. A Crop Fairy instantly grows the crops it visits, so the value comes from receiving growth that normally would require several days of watering and waiting.
To make the most of this seed, plant before the reported visits rather than leaving the field empty. Keep the farm organized so a fairy can reach the crops you most want to advance. The possible windstorm is a trade-off: a fallen large tree can change how you gather wood in the forest, even though it does not remove the seed’s crop-growth benefit.

383972325: the rainy-Spring and fishing choice
Choose this seed when weather is more important to you than a single rare event. Rain removes the need to water outdoor crops that day and creates conditions for catfish, giving a farming-and-fishing schedule more flexibility.
The additional trash and artifact reports make the opening days more interesting, but the central reason to select this seed is the concentration of Spring rain. If you are planning a fishing-heavy start, keep your rod and bait routine ready rather than treating rain as an interruption to farm work. Because the schedule is tied to the guide’s stated version, confirm the first few forecasts in your own save before planning an entire season around exact dates.
309181356: the meteor-event choice
This seed is for players who value an unusual farm event and the chance to gain late-Year-1 resources. A meteorite can be mined for Iridium Ore, which is valuable for progression and crafting once you can break it open.
The possible Prismatic Shard is a bonus, not a promised result. Selecting the seed should mean that you are happy with the event itself and the Iridium opportunity even if the rarest drop never appears. Leave room on the farm for the meteorite and be prepared to wait for the reported timing rather than expecting it immediately after starting.
378045676: the first-day Ancient Seed attempt
This is the most restart-oriented recommendation. The reported Ancient Seed near Robin’s can give a new save an unusually strong early objective, while the Crop Fairy provides a separate crop-growth opportunity later in Spring.
The important word is chance. The guide says the first-day artifact can vary and credits Phil Chill’s observations for that variability. If you select this seed, decide in advance how many reloads or new starts you are willing to try. Players who dislike repeating the opening day should choose one of the deterministic-feeling goal options instead.
203853655: the Traveling Cart and Community Center choice
This seed targets players who want the Traveling Cart to supply difficult bundle ingredients during the first year. A Duck Feather, Large Goat Milk, Red Cabbage, and other reported items can reduce the need to wait for a specific animal, crop, or season.
The trade-off is economic rather than mechanical: buying several rare cart items can consume a large part of your early gold. Treat the schedule as a shopping plan, save cash before the relevant visits, and remember that a cart Red Cabbage item is a completed ingredient, not the Red Cabbage Seed guarantee provided by the advanced option.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTwo additional community-reported seeds
These examples can be useful if your goal is very specific, but they do not have the same evidentiary status as the five documented recommendations. They come from individual community posts, not an official guarantee or a current independent reproduction.
374838970: a Steam report focused on cart seeds
A Steam Community user posted seed 374838970 for Stardew Valley 1.6 with Use Legacy Randomization disabled. The post lists several Traveling Cart items, including Red Cabbage Seeds on Summer 12 and Summer 19 of Year 1.
That report is useful for players specifically hunting an early seed sale, but it should not be treated as proof that every installation will show the same inventory. The author warns that mods adding items or furniture can make cart predictions less reliable. If you try it, reproduce the stated randomization setting and avoid changing the item pool with mods until you have confirmed the result.
422049544: a forum-reported rain-maximizing seed
A Stardew Valley Forums participant, FilthyGorilla, reported that seed 422049544 produced 18 rainy days in Spring of Year 1 in version 1.6. The post describes it as a rain-maximizing seed, while another reply says an unnamed technical community member performed exhaustive checking.

The underlying analysis is not linked to an independently verifiable study here, so the reported count should be read as a community observation. Do not repeat the claim that it is the only seed with that total as an established fact. If you want to experiment with it, record your settings and compare the in-game weather rather than assuming the forum report is universal.
The Year 1 Community Center guarantee is a separate option
Version 1.6 added an advanced setting named Guarantee Year 1 Completable. When enabled, it ensures that the Traveling Cart sells at least one Red Cabbage Seed during Year 1. This option is independent of the numeric world seed.

The Stardew Valley Wiki specifies how the guarantee is scheduled: one randomly selected Traveling Cart visit between Spring 7 and Winter 16 receives the guaranteed Red Cabbage Seed sale. It applies to that single day, not to every visit and not to an unlimited supply of seeds.
This distinction prevents a common planning mistake. Seed 203853655 is reported to provide a Red Cabbage item through the cart, while the guarantee option concerns a Red Cabbage Seed. The item can help complete the Red Cabbage bundle directly; the seed lets you grow the crop yourself. They solve different problems.
If your only objective is making the Community Center feasible in the first year, enabling the guarantee may be more dependable than searching for a specialized seed. You can still use a goal-based seed, but the checkbox is what supplies the explicit Year 1 Red Cabbage Seed protection.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose among the seeds
Start with the outcome you would notice most during play, not with an abstract ranking. The documented choices divide naturally into five priorities:
- Faster crops: choose 386531132 if early Crop Fairy growth is your main objective.
- Rain and fishing: choose 383972325 if you want many rainy Spring days and the associated catfish opportunities.
- Rare event: choose 309181356 if a meteor and possible Iridium matter more than a predictable opening.
- Artifact hunting: choose 378045676 if you accept reloads in pursuit of the reported Ancient Seed chance.
- Community Center shopping: choose 203853655 if you are prepared to save gold for Traveling Cart bundle items.
The community reports add two narrower options: 374838970 for a cart-focused experiment with Legacy Randomization disabled, and 422049544 for a forum-reported concentration of Spring rain. Neither should displace the documented five when you want the strongest available support.
There is no common score, benchmark, or head-to-head test that can put all seven on one objective ladder. A rainy seed may be better for a fisher but worse for someone who wants a meteor. A cart seed may shorten bundle work but demand cash that another player would rather spend on animals or buildings.

Use the version named by the source
The five detailed recommendations are framed for Stardew Valley 1.6 or later. The 2026 guide says its listed seeds should continue working in 1.6 or later, while acknowledging that changes affected randomness and predictability. That is a secondary guide’s claim, not a platform-by-platform compatibility test.
Best Value
Check Legacy Randomization
Stardew Valley includes a Use Legacy Randomization setting in the advanced options. A seed tested with that setting disabled should not be assumed to produce identical outcomes when the setting is enabled. Write down the state of the option when you test a community report so you can reproduce the setup.
Expect mods to alter predictions
Mods that add items or furniture can change randomized merchant inventories and make a reported Traveling Cart schedule unreliable. For the cleanest comparison, test a seed on an unmodded save. If you use mods, treat the seed as a starting hint rather than a promised calendar.
Do not generalize across untested platforms
The available documentation does not establish a platform-by-platform comparison. Avoid assuming that a report verified on one installation automatically covers every platform, build, or future patch. Use the exact game version and settings associated with the report and verify the first relevant outcome in your own save.

The field was not accepted
Return to the farm-creation screen and open the wrench menu. The field is labeled Random Seed; enter only the digits and check for transposed or missing numbers. A seed cannot be retroactively changed on an existing farm.
The weather or cart inventory differs
Check the game version, the Legacy Randomization setting, and any mods that add items or furniture. Compare those details with the source report before concluding that the seed failed. Some reports describe a chance or a pattern rather than a guaranteed event.
The Ancient Seed does not appear
For 378045676, the reported first-day artifact is variable. The guide says reloading may be needed and does not describe the Ancient Seed as guaranteed in every attempt. Decide whether another reload is worth your time or continue the save without it.
The meteor does not produce a Prismatic Shard
The meteor recommendation promises neither a shard nor a particular drop. Meteorites provide Iridium Ore, while the Prismatic Shard chance is low. Judge the seed by the reported event and its ordinary resource value, not by the rarest possible outcome.
Bottom line: use a seed as a targeted tool, not a universal ranking
For a supported Stardew Valley 1.6 starting point, pick one of the five documented seeds according to your goal: crop growth, rain, meteor, artifact, or Community Center shopping. Add the Year 1 guarantee when you want explicit protection for a Red Cabbage Seed. The two community seeds are worth testing for specialized plans, but their reports should remain clearly separate from verified game options and version-specific guide recommendations.
