What power bank works with Steam Deck?
Valve specifies a 45W USB-C PD 3.0 power supply for both the LCD and OLED Steam Deck. Choose a bank with a USB-C port that supports USB Power Delivery and check that port’s output profile, not only the power bank’s combined maximum. Also use a cable suitable for the intended output.
A bank’s headline wattage may describe its total output across several ports. For example, Anker labels its Prime bank as 250W overall but lists up to 140W from a USB-C port. The Deck does not require 250W; its stated input is 45W. Confirm how the bank shares power if you plan to charge other devices at the same time.
How much extra playtime should you expect?
Valve lists different battery capacities and gameplay ranges for the two Deck models. These are manufacturer specifications for the handheld, not promises of runtime with a power bank or of how long a particular game will run.

Those manufacturer specifications make it worth considering, but they do not establish comparative value, current price, or measured Deck runtime.

Before buying, check the current listing for physical dimensions and weight, included cable, the output profile of the port you will use, and whether output changes when several devices are connected. Compare those details with your budget and how much weight you want to carry rather than treating the 250W total label as a Deck requirement.
How to choose the right bank for your use
- Check USB-C PD output: Confirm the port-level profile supports the Deck’s 45W input, and check the cable as well as the bank.
- Compare energy, not just milliamp-hours: Watt-hours offer a more useful energy comparison. Capacity helps assess likely usefulness but does not establish delivered runtime.
- Balance capacity and portability: A larger bank may be useful for longer periods away from an outlet, but it also adds weight and bulk. Use current manufacturer dimensions and weight to compare models.
- Review port sharing: If charging a phone or another device alongside the Deck, check whether the power bank divides or reduces output across ports.
- Check the live price and availability: These can change by market and over time, so compare current listings before choosing.
Can you take a Steam Deck power bank on a plane?
The FAA classifies power banks as spare lithium-ion batteries. Its passenger guidance sets a general limit of 100Wh per battery. With airline approval, passengers may carry up to two larger spare lithium-ion batteries rated 101–160Wh. Airlines and international rules may be stricter.
