EA says Linux and Steam Deck are unsupported, so ReSkate use on Deck is an unofficial workaround—not an EA- or Valve-certified setup. Start by matching the game build to ReSkate’s current requirements, then troubleshoot Proton and graphics load; treat specific settings and frame rates as anecdotal unless they have been tested on the same hardware and software versions.
What to check before changing graphics settings
ReSkate supports one Steam game build at a time. Its README identifies build 25414733, but that can change; check the live ReSkate README and current releases before setup. The launcher checks for ReSkate updates and verifies whether the game files match its supported build.

EA’s PC requirements page says Linux is unsupported and skate. is not compatible with Steam Deck. Community reports of ReSkate running through Proton describe workarounds, not official support. Steam’s PC specifications—Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB or Radeon RX 460 4 GB minimum, broadband internet and 25 GB storage—do not establish SteamOS compatibility or predict Deck performance (Steam store listing).
Install ReSkate using its current instructions
- Open the ReSkate project README and confirm the currently supported game build and latest release.
- Download the latest release ZIP and follow the README’s installation directions. It says to extract
ReSkateLauncher.exeandReSkate.dllbesideSkate.exe, or place them in an empty folder for the launcher’s game installation process. - Run the launcher and let it check for updates and verify the installed game files against the supported build.
If the installed build does not match the one ReSkate currently supports, resolve that mismatch before treating graphics settings as the problem.

Troubleshoot Steam Deck compatibility and performance
- Update and restart: If the Steam app is unstable, install available SteamOS updates and restart the Deck, following Valve’s Steam Deck software troubleshooting guidance.
- Try a Proton compatibility tool: In Steam, open the game’s Properties, select Compatibility, enable forcing a compatibility tool, and try the latest Proton version available. Valve’s general guidance says, “Try choosing the latest version of Proton.” This is a general Steam app troubleshooting step, not a ReSkate-specific guarantee.
- Reduce graphics load if performance is poor: Lower the graphics preset or individual graphics settings, as Valve suggests. Make one adjustment at a time and note the result alongside the Deck model, SteamOS version, Proton version and game build. That makes it easier to identify which change helps; it is a troubleshooting method, not a validated ReSkate preset.
- Separate crashes from slow performance: If the game crashes or shows visual problems, record those separately from frame-rate observations. A change that improves apparent smoothness does not necessarily resolve compatibility bugs.
How much confidence to place in specific settings or FPS reports
There are no controlled, comparable benchmarks or verified settings matrix for LCD and OLED Deck models in the available sources. A recent community post reports ReSkate 1.0.3 on a Deck OLED using Proton Experimental, medium-low settings and roughly 50–60 FPS, but the same user also mentions bugs and crashes. That is one person’s experience, not a benchmark or a promise of stable performance on another Deck.
For a useful comparison, any settings report should identify the Deck model, SteamOS and Proton versions, ReSkate release, supported game build, graphics choices, and whether it describes crashes or visual issues as well as performance. Without those details—and repeated testing—no particular preset, frame rate, wattage or scaling mode can be called the best for all Steam Decks.
