The best Escape from Tarkov backpack depends on the raid you plan to run: more inventory space can help on a long looting route, while a lighter bag can keep its starting weight down. Compare usable slots, base weight, movement penalties, and internal layout—not just the largest slot count. The values below are item-page figures, so check the current client before choosing; patches can change equipment data.
How to compare Tarkov backpacks
A bag’s slot count is only one part of its value. A useful comparison includes what fits inside, how much weight the empty bag adds, and the movement or ergonomics modifiers attached to it.
- Usable capacity: Check the inventory grid and any item restrictions. The headline slot count does not show whether a particular loot shape fits.
- Base weight: The bag adds weight before you collect anything, which matters when you expect to carry a full load.
- Movement costs: Review movement-speed, turn-speed, and ergonomics modifiers alongside capacity.
- Storage efficiency: Slots per kilogram can be a quick comparison, but it does not account for penalties or layout.
- Price and access: Trader prices, trader levels, flea-market rules, and availability can change. Recheck them for the current patch and your account’s access.
The backpack comparison on Tarkov.dev presents capacity, weight, penalties, storage efficiency, and slots per kilogram across multiple bags. Treat its price and access information as patch-sensitive rather than permanent.

The figures come from the Escape from Tarkov Wiki backpack list and the RUSH 100 item page. They illustrate a tradeoff, not a universal ranking: the 6Sh118 lists three more slots, while the RUSH 100 lists a lower base weight and explicit penalties and compartment details. A slot-per-kilogram calculation can help compare capacity against bag weight, but it leaves those penalties and the shape of the storage out.

Choose a bag for the raid plan
For a long looting route
Favor a higher-capacity option if the route is likely to produce enough loot to use the space. The 6Sh118’s listed 48 slots make it a capacity-oriented example; factor its listed 3.5 kg base weight into the rest of the kit rather than treating the extra slots as free.
When keeping carried weight down matters
A lighter listed base weight can be attractive when you expect to travel farther or want more room in your load budget for loot. The RUSH 100 is listed at 2.6 kg, but its movement, turning, and ergonomics modifiers are also part of the decision. These figures describe item attributes, not measured gameplay outcomes.

When loot shape matters
Inspect the bag’s grid and compartments before assuming a nominal slot total will suit your haul. The RUSH 100 page lists a 6×7 grid plus four compartments: two 2×2, one 1×2, and one 5×7. Check current in-game restrictions as well, since the page’s layout description does not guarantee every item can be stored in every compartment.
