For a close PC sim-racing rig, the 42-inch LG C6 OLED is the strongest fit established by the available gaming-TV reviews: it supports up to 4K/165Hz over four HDMI 2.1 ports and has very fast response. For a bright room, consider the Samsung QN90F Mini-LED instead. These are informed recommendations from general gaming and TV tests—not results from a standardized sim-racing comparison.
Despite the original “11 best” framing, the evidence here supports two distinct recommendations, not eleven verified picks. Rather than pad a list with unverified models, this guide explains what matters for a racing rig and where the available evidence points.
What matters in a TV for sim racing
Prioritize a low-latency gaming mode, a high native refresh rate, variable refresh rate (VRR), and fast pixel response. Together, these features help keep steering inputs responsive and motion clear. A TV’s headline refresh rate is only useful if the game system can deliver the corresponding resolution and frame rate.
- Refresh rate: Current consoles support up to 120fps, according to RTINGS’ 2026 gaming-TV guide. A higher ceiling, such as 165Hz, is relevant to a compatible PC—not a promise of higher frame rates on consoles. RTINGS’ 2026 gaming TV guide explains its gaming recommendations.
- VRR and response: VRR can help smooth changes in frame rate, while fast response reduces visible trailing. Check the specific TV’s supported VRR formats and the output options of your PC or console.
- Rig fit: Choose a screen that fits the mount and viewing distance. There is no established universal ideal size for sim racing; a 42-inch model may suit a screen positioned close to the driver.
- Room conditions: OLED is noted for deep blacks and fast response. A bright room or troublesome reflections may make a bright Mini-LED TV a more practical choice.
- Ports: Confirm which HDMI inputs support the resolution, refresh rate, and VRR modes you intend to use. Port capabilities can vary by model.

LG C6 OLED (2026): best fit for a close PC rig
RTINGS names the C6 its upper-mid-range gaming-TV recommendation for 2026. Its review reports four HDMI 2.1 inputs with bandwidth for up to 4K/165Hz, support for common VRR formats, and nearly instantaneous response. A 42-inch version is available, making it a candidate when the screen sits near the driver. Read RTINGS’ LG C6 OLED review; its PC-monitor guide also discusses the 42-inch version and its compatibility with HDMI Forum VRR, FreeSync, and G-SYNC.

- Up Your Game: Take your racing simulation to the next level with Driving Force accessories like the Driving Force Shifter or desk and rig mounts
The 165Hz figure is most relevant to a PC capable of outputting at that rate. Console players should not assume they can use 165Hz: RTINGS summarizes current console support as up to 120fps. Also compare the C6’s local price with older models. RTINGS describes the C6 as a modest update over the C5, so a discounted previous-generation TV may offer better value.
Samsung QN90F Mini-LED: bright-room alternative
TechRadar lists the QN90F as a bright-room option, citing its Glare Free screen for reflection reduction. The guide specifies a 165Hz refresh rate and four HDMI 2.1 ports; TechRadar measured 9.5ms input lag in its TV testing. That is a general test result, not a sim-racing-specific measurement. Consider this model if brightness and reflection handling matter more to your setup than the OLED characteristics highlighted in the C6 review. How to choose for your PC, console, and room
- Measure the setup. Check the mount’s supported dimensions and the distance from your eyes to the screen. Treat 42 inches as one close-rig option, not a universal target.
- Set a realistic performance target. Decide whether you need 4K/120Hz for a console or want a higher refresh ceiling for a capable PC. Confirm the system and game can output your chosen combination.
- Verify the exact TV’s connections. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the ports that support your target refresh rate and VRR. LG’s gaming guide lists four HDMI 2.1 ports on multiple featured TVs, but the capability is model-specific: LG’s TV gaming guide.
- Match the panel to the room. The C6 review emphasizes OLED black levels and response; TechRadar positions the QN90F for bright-room use and reflection handling. Consider the conditions where you actually race.
- Check the local variant and price. Confirm model year, screen size, regional model number, stock, and current price before buying. Availability and pricing can differ by market.
Why this is not an 11-TV ranking
The reviewed sources establish a well-supported C6 recommendation and a QN90F alternative, but they do not substantiate nine more distinct picks on comparable sim-racing criteria. The cited TV tests cover gaming or PC-monitor use generally, not a standardized sim-racing workload. An honest shortlist is more useful than assigning unsupported rankings to models without comparable evidence.
For a fuller comparison, useful evidence would include gaming-mode input lag at relevant refresh rates, native refresh and supported 4K modes, VRR compatibility, response and motion clarity, available sizes, room brightness and reflections, full-feature HDMI 2.1 port count, and local price. No sim-racing-specific latency threshold is established by the cited material.
