Quest has two different roles: it can run compatible games directly on the headset, or connect to a PC for PC VR. A game’s presence on a Quest-focused recommendation list does not by itself mean the headset can run it standalone.

Half-Life: Alyx — PC VR action and adventure
TechRadar lists Half-Life: Alyx as a Steam VR title and says it requires a PC to play through SteamVR. A Quest headset can be used for PC VR through a compatible link setup, but it does not make Alyx a standalone Quest game. Check the Steam listing for current system requirements and availability.
How to choose the right version and setup
- Identify your headset. For a Quest, decide whether you want standalone play or PC VR. For PS VR2, look for the game in the PlayStation catalog and verify its current requirements.
- Check whether another system is required. Half-Life: Alyx requires a gaming PC and SteamVR. PS VR2 games require the headset and a PS5. Native Quest games are the option when you want to play without a PC.
