Keep the highest resolution that leaves distant robots and beacons easy to read. If fights produce uneven frame pacing, lower quality or resolution before chasing visual effects. Steam’s current listing gives a minimum of Windows 10, a 2.5 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 graphics processor with 2 GB of VRAM, and 4 GB of storage. Its recommended baseline is a 3.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 960, broadband internet, and 8 GB of storage.
What the best settings can—and cannot—do
War Robots is an online third-person 6v6 PvP shooter. Graphics settings control how quickly your computer renders each frame; they do not repair a poor internet route to the game server. A match can feel delayed because of connection quality, low rendered FPS, or both, so treat those as separate troubleshooting tracks.

There is no current first-party table showing the exact FPS gained by each preset, resolution, or effect. The practical target is therefore stable frame delivery and readable silhouettes rather than a promised number. Auto is the safest starting point because it lets the game choose a baseline. Low prioritizes rendering stability, while Middle and High trade additional GPU load for image quality. Test changes during an actual match, especially a team fight, because a quiet menu does not reproduce the heaviest workload.

The following figures come from the War Robots Steam listing (the listing identifies them as the current requirements; the original specification was published in 2018). Meeting the minimum means the game can launch under the stated conditions, not that it will hold 60 FPS.

| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 | Windows 10 |
| Processor | 2.5 GHz | 3.2 GHz |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | DirectX 11 GPU with 2 GB VRAM | NVIDIA GTX 960 |
| Storage | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| Internet | Online connection required | Broadband internet |
On a system near the minimum, reserve as much CPU, RAM, and GPU capacity as possible for the game. The recommended GTX 960 is a useful reference when evaluating a graphics-card upgrade, but a newer compatible card may be easier to find. Check the card’s power, case clearance, display outputs, and driver support before buying. Changing settings costs nothing and should come first.
Use this settings workflow
1. Start with Auto
- Launch War Robots through Steam and open the game’s graphics or video settings.
- Select Auto, apply the change, and enter a real match.
- Play through movement, firing, and at least one crowded engagement. Watch for uneven motion, sudden pauses, or blurry targets rather than judging only the average smoothness.
The developer’s 27 December 2018 PC announcement introduced the four presets—Auto, Low, Middle, and High—and warned that the remastered version has higher system requirements. That warning is why an older PC may need a lower preset than it used previously.
2. Drop to Low when frame pacing is poor
If Auto produces hitching or inconsistent motion, select Low. Stable frame times are more useful in aiming and beacon fights than extra lighting or effect detail. Keep other variables unchanged while testing so you know which change helped.
3. Raise quality one step at a time
- From Low, test Middle in a match.
- If movement remains consistent and distant targets are still legible, test High.
- Stop at the first preset that causes recurring stutter or makes the GPU run out of headroom. Return to the previous preset instead of accepting unstable fights for cosmetic detail.
On a PC around Steam’s recommended baseline, Auto or Middle is a sensible starting point. High may work, but only a match test can show whether team fights create frame-time spikes. A higher-end PC can try High at the monitor’s native resolution and then reduce only the options that cause spikes.
4. Change one control at a time
After choosing a preset, adjust resolution or effects separately. Changing several controls at once hides the cause of an improvement or regression. Record the setting and the situation in which you tested it, such as a full team fight or a map with long sightlines.

Resolution is the largest practical FPS lever
Steam Support states that increasing resolution or other video options beyond recommended settings has an immediate negative effect on FPS. Manually lowering video options can increase FPS. Resolution determines how many pixels the GPU must render every frame, so it can dominate performance even when other effects are modest.
Keep native resolution when readability is good
Native resolution usually gives the cleanest text, robot silhouettes, beacons, and weapon effects. If your PC is coping, keep it and lower preset quality or effects first. This preserves the information you need at long range.

Lower resolution modestly when the GPU is the bottleneck
If Low still stutters and the graphics processor is working at its limit, reduce resolution by one step rather than making a drastic change. Recheck distant targets and interface text immediately. Stop lowering when the image becomes too soft to distinguish a robot from the background; a higher FPS number is not useful if you cannot identify what you are aiming at.
Resolution changes are especially relevant on integrated graphics, which share system memory and have less rendering headroom than a discrete card. Steam Support specifically recommends low shader detail and windowed mode for proper function on integrated-graphics systems.
Settings by PC tier
| PC situation | Starting point | Adjustment order | What to protect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Near minimum or integrated graphics | Auto; Low if pacing is uneven | Low shader detail and windowed mode; then modest resolution reduction if the GPU is saturated | Stable movement and readable silhouettes |
| Around the recommended baseline | Auto or Middle | Test High in a real match; lower effects or preset quality before reducing resolution | Distant robots, beacons, and weapon effects |
| Higher-end PC | High at native resolution | Reduce only the settings that create frame-time spikes | Consistent frame delivery during team fights |
Make enemies and beacons easier to see
Prioritize resolution over decorative effects
Visibility is not the same as maximum visual quality. A high-resolution image with moderate effects often communicates target outlines and beacon locations better than a heavily filtered image rendered at a low resolution. If targets look soft, restore resolution before raising cosmetic effects.

Use the preset as a controlled compromise
Auto and Low are appropriate when smooth tracking matters more than visual extras. Middle can preserve more detail on a recommended-baseline PC. High is worthwhile only when it does not introduce hitching during crowded encounters. The right choice is the highest preset that keeps both frame pacing and target readability acceptable.
Check long sightlines in a match
Test a map position with distant robots, a beacon at range, and several simultaneous weapon effects. Menus and empty areas understate the workload. If a distant beacon disappears into softness after a resolution change, undo that change and lower quality elsewhere.
Separate rendered FPS from connection lag
A stable internet connection is required for the best gameplay experience, but network quality does not create additional rendered frames. Graphics changes can make your camera and controls smoother while a bad connection still causes delayed actions, rubber-banding, or players appearing to jump.
Signs the problem is rendering
- The image visibly stutters even while the battlefield and other players move normally.
- Turning the camera or entering a large fight causes pauses that coincide with heavier effects.
- Lowering the preset or resolution changes the symptom.
Signs the problem is connection quality
- Actions arrive late or the game corrects your position suddenly.
- Other players or projectiles appear to teleport while your local camera remains smooth.
- Changing graphics settings does not alter the delay.
When both occur, test them independently: first use Auto or Low and a sensible resolution to establish stable rendering, then check the quality of your internet connection. Do not interpret a connection problem as proof that the GPU needs an upgrade.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Reduce background load before changing more settings
Close applications that use substantial GPU or CPU resources, such as video playback, 3D tools, or overlays, and then repeat the same in-match test. This is a troubleshooting practice, not a measured War Robots-specific guarantee. If the hitching disappears, reopen programs one at a time to identify the conflict. If it remains unchanged, return to the graphics workflow instead of closing unrelated software indefinitely.

Can your PC run War Robots at 60 FPS?
The published requirements cannot answer that with certainty. They specify hardware needed to run the game and a recommended baseline, but they do not include a current War Robots benchmark table, per-setting FPS results, map-by-map tests, or a guaranteed 60-FPS target. A PC that meets the recommended GTX 960 specification may perform differently depending on resolution, driver state, background load, and what is happening in a match.
Use a repeatable test instead: choose Auto, play through a busy engagement, note whether motion remains consistent, and then test Middle or High. If the game becomes uneven, step back. This approach tells you more about your particular PC than assuming the requirement guarantees a frame rate.
Choosing hardware upgrades
Graphics card
Upgrade the GPU only after Auto or Low, resolution adjustments, and background-load checks fail to provide stable rendering. The NVIDIA GTX 960 is the official Steam recommended graphics-card reference. A current compatible replacement may offer better efficiency, but verify power supply capacity, physical clearance, display connections, and driver compatibility.
Memory and processor
The jump from 2 GB minimum RAM to 8 GB recommended RAM indicates how different the two operating conditions are. If the system is close to the minimum, insufficient memory can force other programs or Windows activity to compete with the game. A processor around the recommended 3.2 GHz level also gives more headroom for simulation and background tasks, although the published figures alone do not identify a guaranteed FPS gain.
Monitor
A 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor can display a stable higher frame rate more clearly, but it cannot create additional rendered FPS. Buy one to present frames your PC already produces consistently, not as a substitute for a graphics or settings fix.
Quick Recap
A repeatable troubleshooting checklist
- Confirm Windows 10 and that your hardware is at least near the Steam minimum.
- Set Auto and test a busy real match.
- Use Low if frame pacing is uneven.
- Keep native resolution when text and distant silhouettes remain clear.
- If the GPU is saturated, lower resolution modestly and recheck readability.
- On integrated graphics, use low shader detail and windowed mode.
- Close GPU-heavy background applications and repeat the same test.
- Test the internet connection separately from rendered FPS symptoms.
- Try Middle or High only when the lower setting is stable, and return one step if team fights produce spikes.
- Consider a hardware upgrade only after these software and settings checks.
