In The Forge on Roblox, “money” means in-game Gold. The best way to earn it depends on your progress: early on, take available quests and compare selling raw ore with crafting and selling gear; later, batch mine and forge, or farm enemies if your combat build and area access make that worthwhile. Claim Index rewards as you go. There is no verified, universally fastest route: prices, drops, and access requirements can change with updates.
Choose a Gold route that fits your progress
Unofficial guides describe four main sources of Gold: selling raw ore, selling crafted equipment, selling enemy drops such as essence, and completing quests or claiming Index rewards. They do not establish a comparable, independently verified Gold-per-minute rate, so judge a route by the current sale values and the time and materials it costs you.
| Route | Best fit | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Sell raw ore | New or under-geared players seeking a quick, simple sale | Quick to do, but ore may be needed for quests, upgrades, or crafting. Guides disagree on whether this beats crafting for value. |
| Forge and sell gear | Players who can mine and craft in batches | Finished items may sell for more than raw ore, but the result depends on recipe, ore mix, crafting quality, and current prices. |
| Farm enemies and sell drops | Players with suitable combat gear and access to later areas | Can produce Gold and essence, but combat time and the essence’s possible upgrade use matter. |
| Quests and Index rewards | Any player with available objectives or newly discovered entries | Layer these rewards onto activities you already plan to do; Index rewards are described by guides as one-time. |
These routes and their mechanics are described in unofficial guides, not confirmed here by developer documentation. Treat route advice and quoted values as version-sensitive.
Early game: compare ore sales with crafting
Before a long mining or combat session, talk to available NPCs and accept quests you can complete along the way. For quick early cash, The Forge BETA guides hub recommends selling ores to Greedy Cey, describing it as quicker and more consistent than stopping to craft (The Forge BETA guides hub). By contrast, GameWith and TheSpike emphasize forging equipment for a better sale return (GameWith; TheSpike.gg).

That disagreement means you should compare the current in-game sale values rather than assume one method always wins. Check what a batch of ore would sell for against the likely sale price of a crafted item, and account for the time spent crafting. Keep materials needed for an active quest, planned upgrade, or gear recipe rather than selling every ore you collect. A November 2024 beginner guide also discusses early progression, but its age makes it especially important to verify mechanics in the current game (The Forge Wiki Team beginner guide).
When you can mine and forge in batches
If you have enough materials and can craft efficiently, guides recommend mining a stash, returning to the forge, making larger weapons or armor, and selling the finished items. Larger crafted gear may bring a higher sale value than raw ore, but that is not the same as guaranteed profit: recipe, ore mix, crafting quality, and current prices affect the result.

GameWith gives a specific example of 30 ore producing a Masterwork Colossal Sword or Heavy Chestplate with a reported sale value of 1,285.56 Gold. That figure is from its guide updated December 23, 2025, not a guaranteed current price or a verified profit rate (GameWith). Check the item’s present value and consider whether those ores would serve you better in progression before committing a batch.
When combat farming makes sense
Enemy farming is a separate option once your combat strength and area access make it practical. TheSpike and GameWith describe collecting enemy drops, including essence, and selling them for Gold; GameWith identifies Volcanic Depths as a place to seek rarer essence (TheSpike.gg; GameWith). The value of this route depends on current drops, travel and combat time, and whether you need the essence for gear enhancement instead of a sale.

| Large | 35 Gold |
| Greater | 50 Gold |

Check the current sale value in game, and do not sell essence you are saving for an enhancement. The Forge Database also describes its economy information as a fan-made guide, not developer documentation (The Forge Database economy guide).

Add quests and Index rewards to your normal loop
- Before setting out: talk to available NPCs and accept quests whose objectives overlap with your planned mining or combat.
- While playing: complete those objectives as part of the activity you would already do, rather than making a separate trip for each one where possible.
- After discoveries: check the Index for entries with rewards you can claim. Guides describe these as one-time rewards, so they are an addition to income, not a repeatable farm.
Some guides mention selling an old pickaxe after upgrading. Verify that the current game allows it and that you do not need to keep a spare before selling one.

The cited money-making guides are unofficial: GameWith is dated December 23, 2025, TheSpike.gg December 24, 2025, and the beginner guide November 15, 2024; the Forge Database page is fan-made and does not show a clear publication date. A recent crawl or a guide’s listed value does not establish that it matches the current patch. Use guides to identify possible routes, then make the decision using the values, access requirements, and crafting or drop behavior you see in your game.
