For an official PC version, check Capcom’s Steam catalog first, then compare its GOG collection for the specific game. For a quick browser session, Capcom Town lists classic games, but its full lineup is scheduled to unlock only until November 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM JST. Availability depends on the title and storefront, so confirm the exact edition before you buy or play.
Choose a route based on the game you want
| Route | What it offers | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | Capcom’s publisher catalog includes standalone PC releases and multi-game collections. | Open the individual game page to confirm its edition, regional availability, current price, system requirements, and input support. Capcom on Steam |
| GOG | Capcom maintains a separate GOG collection, giving you another official storefront to check title by title. | Confirm that the specific game is listed in your region and review its current compatibility and delivery details. The collection page does not establish that every classic is available or guarantee compatibility on every modern PC. Capcom games on GOG |
| Capcom Town | A browser-playable selection of classic home-console games, convenient for sampling while access is available. | Check the page’s current access window and conditions, the title’s language, and whether it launches. Its published full-lineup unlock is temporary, not a permanent PC release. Capcom Town Classic Games |
These routes differ in how you access games, but the available listings do not establish a general winner for compatibility, performance, controller support, or preservation. Compare the actual product pages rather than assuming one storefront is better for every game.

Find the original game, not a similarly named remake
Capcom’s Steam publisher catalog lists the original Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil 2 (1998), and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (1999) as distinct PC releases. Those are not the later remakes. The same catalog lists Breath of Fire IV, Dino Crisis, and Dino Crisis 2. The entries for Breath of Fire IV and the original Resident Evil trilogy are dated April 1, 2026 on Capcom’s Steam page; the Dino Crisis entries are dated February 12, 2026. These are storefront listing dates, not the games’ original release dates. See Capcom’s Steam catalog
When searching, match the full title and edition. A listing that says “remake,” “collection,” or a later numbered release may be a different product from the original you remember.

Use collections to find older series entries
For several classic series, a collection can be a straightforward way to locate multiple games together. Capcom’s Steam descriptions give these contents:
- Mega Man Legacy Collection: the original six Mega Man games. Capcom describes it as a “faithful reproduction” of the series’ origins. Capcom on Steam
- Mega Man Legacy Collection 2: Mega Man 7, 8, 9, and 10.
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection: Mega Man X through X4.
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2: Mega Man X5 through X8.
- Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection: six titles in the Zero and ZX series.
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection: 12 games, according to its Steam listing.
Collection names can be easy to confuse, especially across numbered releases. Check the included-game list on the specific product page to make sure it covers the entry you want.

Play through a browser while Capcom Town access lasts
Capcom Town’s Classic Games page lists English versions of titles including 1942, Ghosts ’n Goblins, Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Final Fight, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire II, Mega Man X, and Street Fighter Alpha 2. Other listed games include Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, and Demon’s Crest. The page identifies these as home-console games playable on the site; Mega Man Soccer is marked CAPCOM ID Exclusive. View the current lineup
A news entry on that page dated September 16, 2026 says the entire classic lineup is unlocked until November 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM JST. Check the page before relying on that offer: access is time-limited, and the browser collection should not be treated as a permanent substitute for a PC release.

Check the listing before you commit
- Identify the exact edition. Decide whether you want the original game, a remake, a re-release, or a collection, then match that wording on the product page.
- Confirm availability where you live. Store catalogs can vary by region and change over time; verify the specific listing rather than relying on a publisher or collection page alone.
- Review the practical details. Check the current price, system requirements, language information, and supported inputs on that game’s listing. No single compatibility or controller claim applies across this catalog.
- If using Capcom Town, check the access conditions. Confirm the published end time and whether the game still launches in your browser.
A gamepad is optional; whether one is appropriate depends on the game and your preference. Check its individual input details before choosing a controller.

Capcom’s 2025 Integrated Report says the first Street Fighter and first Mega Man both debuted in 1987. Today’s mix of original PC releases, collections, and temporary browser access offers different ways to revisit those older series, but each route applies to particular titles—not the entire Capcom back catalog.
