Why The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth stands out on Wii U
Nintendo describes The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth as “a randomly generated action RPG shooter with heavy Rogue-like elements.” Its official listing identifies it as Wii U download software: Nintendo’s Wii U product page.

Nintendo Life’s Wii U review describes an adventure built around randomly generated, Zelda-esque dungeons, with a deliberately graphic art style and theme. That combination makes changing dungeon layouts the clearest reason to choose it for replayable, roguelike action on the system.
How its runs work
The run structure gives each attempt meaningful stakes. Nintendo Life notes: “You only get one life in this roguelike, but the game provides a code, called a Seed, on each run through the dungeon.” In practical terms, survival is a central challenge, while the seed code gives a run a code that players can use to identify it.

Can you still buy it on the Wii U eShop?
Nintendo says purchases in the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family eShops ended on 27 March 2023. Because its listing identifies The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth as download software, that historical Wii U release does not mean it can still be newly purchased through the Wii U eShop. See Nintendo’s notice on the end of eShop purchases for the platform cutoff.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How complete is this Wii U recommendation?
This is a best-supported pick, not a verified ranking of the entire Wii U library. The sources establish this game’s roguelike elements and run mechanics, but they do not establish a complete platform-wide list or provide comparable evidence for ranking several Wii U roguelikes against one another. Treat it as a strong documented recommendation rather than a definitive “number one of all time” verdict.
