1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBest overall: the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the clearest match for a wireless gaming headset with a genuinely swappable battery, Bluetooth, a 2.4 GHz gaming connection and a charging base. Each pack is rated for 30 hours, and the base keeps a spare charged so you can continue playing while replacing the depleted pack. The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II is a second removable-battery option. Audeze Maxwell is the endurance choice, with more than 80 hours of Bluetooth or wireless playback, but its 1,800 mAh battery is internal and cannot be hot-swapped.
Quick comparison
| Headset | Battery system | Wireless connections | Published endurance | Charging approach | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless | Hot-swappable battery packs | 2.4 GHz gaming wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 | 30 hours per pack | Charging base with a battery slot | Zero-interruption play and the complete feature brief |
| Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II | Removable battery | Wireless gaming and Bluetooth behavior depends on the exact platform SKU; verify before buying | Not stated in the cited 2026 review | Removable-pack design; included charging equipment varies by SKU | A second removable-battery alternative |
| Audeze Maxwell | Internal 1,800 mAh lithium-polymer battery | Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint and LE Audio, plus wireless gaming connection | More than 80 hours at 80 dBA, according to Audeze | Recharge the headset; no hot-swap | Maximum single-charge endurance and sound-focused use |
The Nova Pro Wireless is the only model in this shortlist that clearly documents every part of the brief: a true swappable pack, Bluetooth controls, a 2.4 GHz link and a charging station. Its guide price was $220/£229 in PC Gamer’s 2026 guide; current prices, stock, firmware and regional bundles can change.

What “hot-swappable battery” should mean
A hot-swappable headset lets you remove a depleted battery and insert a charged one without waiting for the headset to recharge. For gaming, that is materially different from a long-lasting internal battery. A 30-hour internal pack still forces a cable break when it is empty; two charged swappable packs can keep the headset operating indefinitely, provided one is charging while the other is in use.
Hot-swappable versus removable
“Removable battery” only tells you that the pack can come out. A practical hot-swap system also needs a charged spare, a way to charge it outside the headset and a replacement procedure that does not require tools. The Nova Pro Wireless documents all three elements through its swappable battery, Bluetooth controls and charging-base battery slot. The Stealth Pro II is described in a 2026 review as a zero-downtime headset and shows the battery removed beside the earcup, but you should confirm what the exact regional and platform package includes.

Internal batteries
An internal battery can still be the right choice when endurance matters more than uninterrupted operation. Maxwell’s internal 1,800 mAh lithium-polymer pack is rated for over 80 hours of wireless playback at 80 dBA, which reduces charging frequency, but it cannot be exchanged during a session. Treat it as a long-endurance alternative, not a hot-swap model.
1. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless: best exact match
The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the safest recommendation when “hot-swappable,” Bluetooth and gaming wireless all matter at once. The manufacturer’s manual identifies a swappable battery, a dedicated Bluetooth button and a battery slot in the charging base. PC Gamer’s 2026 guide lists 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, hot-swappable packs, the charging station and 30 hours of battery life per pack.
Why it solves the zero-downtime problem
- Use one battery pack in the headset during a game.
- Keep the second pack in the charging base so it is ready before the first is empty.
- When the headset warns that the active pack is low, remove it and insert the charged pack.
- Place the depleted pack into the base slot to recharge while you continue playing.
The result is a repeatable rotation rather than a single battery-life number. The 30-hour figure applies to one pack, under the conditions used for the cited guide; it does not mean 30 hours is the maximum you can play when a charged spare is available.
Wireless modes and Bluetooth use
The dedicated 2.4 GHz connection is the mode intended for low-latency game audio. Bluetooth 5.0 provides a second connection for a phone, tablet or other compatible device. Use the headset’s Bluetooth control to pair or switch devices, while keeping the gaming link connected to the console or PC. Exact simultaneous-audio behavior and controls can vary with firmware and platform, so check the current manual for your intended setup.
Platform and SKU checks
Nova Pro Wireless is sold in platform-specific versions. Before ordering, match the box and product listing to your system—PC, PlayStation or Xbox—and confirm which console the transmitter supports. Do not assume an Xbox-labelled package and a PlayStation-labelled package have identical console compatibility. A headset can still work over Bluetooth with a phone or another device while its 2.4 GHz console support is limited by the transmitter and SKU.
Cost and what is included
PC Gamer listed a guide price of $220/£229 in 2026. That is a publication-time guide price, not a guaranteed current retail price. The charging base is central to the hot-swap experience, so compare bundles that include the base and a second battery rather than evaluating the headset alone. A current price for replacement packs or additional bases was not stated in the cited product pages; check the retailer’s live listing before budgeting for extras.

Who should buy it
- Players who regularly have sessions longer than one charge.
- People who want one headset for a 2.4 GHz gaming device and Bluetooth calls or music.
- Households that prefer a visible charging dock over a cable connected to the headset.
- Anyone who considers “zero downtime” more important than maximum single-pack endurance.
2. Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II: removable-battery alternative
The Stealth Pro II deserves consideration if you want a second removable-battery design. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 review shows the battery removed beside the earcup and describes the headset as a “zero downtime headset.” That evidence supports calling it a removable-battery alternative, but it does not establish that every regional or platform SKU has identical Bluetooth behavior or accessories.

Check three details on the listing before purchase:
- Whether the model is the PC, PlayStation or Xbox version you need.
- Whether Bluetooth is available in the way you expect—especially if you need phone audio while the gaming transmitter remains connected.
- Whether a spare battery and charging solution are included, or must be purchased separately.
Tom’s Guide’s cited 2026 review does not provide a tested battery-hour figure, a universal price or a complete microphone and weight specification for Stealth Pro II. Do not transfer the Nova Pro’s 30-hour figure or Maxwell’s 80-hour figure to this headset.
When it makes sense
Choose Stealth Pro II when the removable-pack concept is more important to you than a documented 30-hour-per-pack figure and you have confirmed the correct SKU. It is particularly relevant to players who want to keep a spare charged and avoid plugging in mid-session, but the value depends on the availability and price of replacement packs in your region.
3. Audeze Maxwell: best for long single-charge endurance
Maxwell is the adjacent recommendation for readers who can accept an internal battery in exchange for exceptional endurance and modern Bluetooth features. Audeze specifies Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint and LE Audio codecs, plus over 80 hours of wireless playback at 80 dBA. The battery is an internal 1,800 mAh lithium-polymer pack.
What the 80-hour figure means
“Over 80 hours” is a manufacturer specification measured at 80 dBA. Volume, wireless mode, codec, microphone use, environmental conditions and firmware can change real-world runtime. It is still substantially longer than the 30 hours documented for one Nova Pro pack, but Maxwell’s battery cannot be removed during play.

Bluetooth capabilities
Bluetooth 5.3 and multipoint make Maxwell suitable when you want to keep a phone paired while using another device. LE Audio support is listed by Audeze, although the benefits depend on the source device and operating-system support. Bluetooth features do not change the battery architecture: this remains a recharge-the-headset design rather than a swap-and-continue design.
Build and trade-off
Audeze describes Maxwell as using aluminum yokes and a spring-steel headband. Audeze’s published specifications do not state a comparative weight or comfort ranking against the other two headsets. If you are sensitive to clamp force or headset weight, try the exact model with your preferred ear cushions before committing.

Buying checklist before you order
- Identify the platform SKU. Confirm PC, PlayStation or Xbox support on the exact product page. Console compatibility is often determined by the included wireless transmitter, not by Bluetooth alone.
- Confirm the battery type. Look specifically for “hot-swappable” or a documented spare-pack workflow. “Rechargeable” means only that the battery can be charged; it does not imply removal.
- Count the hardware required for rotation. A zero-downtime setup normally needs the headset, two compatible packs and a charger or charging base. Check whether the spare is included.
- Check Bluetooth behavior. Decide whether you need Bluetooth only for occasional phone use or simultaneous connections. Confirm the manual’s pairing and mixing controls for your platform.
- Budget for replacement parts. Battery availability, ear cushions and charging accessories can affect the long-term cost. Current accessory prices were not stated on the cited listings, so use the live regional listing.
- Review firmware support. Wireless behavior, battery reporting and Bluetooth stability can change with firmware. Update the headset and transmitter before diagnosing a problem.
- Assess comfort separately. Comparative weight and microphone measurements are not stated consistently for this shortlist. Check the return policy if fit is a concern.
Setup guide for a hot-swap system
Initial charging and pairing
- Charge both battery packs in the headset or the supplied base, following the model’s indicator lights.
- Connect the 2.4 GHz transmitter to the gaming platform using the port and cable specified for that SKU.
- Power on the headset and complete the transmitter pairing procedure from the manual.
- Enable Bluetooth, press the headset’s Bluetooth control and pair your phone or secondary device.
- Play a short audio clip from each source before starting a long session. This confirms that game audio, chat and Bluetooth are routed as expected.
Replacing the active pack
- Keep the charged spare within reach, ideally in the charging base.
- When the low-battery warning appears, pause voice chat if necessary and remove the depleted pack according to the manual.
- Insert the charged pack fully until it locks into place.
- Confirm that audio returns and that the battery indicator shows the replacement pack.
- Put the depleted pack into the charger immediately so the rotation is ready for the next session.
Do not force a pack, use a third-party cell with unknown protection circuitry or continue using a swollen or damaged battery. Replace damaged packs through the manufacturer’s approved channel.

Troubleshooting common failures
The headset powers on but there is no game audio
- Confirm that the console or PC output is set to the wireless transmitter rather than the monitor speakers.
- Check that the transmitter and headset are on the same wireless mode and have completed pairing.
- Disconnect Bluetooth temporarily to determine whether the issue is source routing rather than the 2.4 GHz link.
- Restart the headset and transmitter, then check for firmware updates.
Bluetooth pairs but phone audio is silent
- Verify that the headset is selected as the phone’s media-output device.
- Raise the phone’s media volume separately from the headset’s game volume.
- Forget and re-pair the headset if the phone connected for calls but not media.
- Check the manual for the model’s game/Bluetooth mixing control.
The replacement battery is not recognized
- Power the headset off, remove the pack and inspect the contacts for dirt or obstruction.
- Reinsert the pack firmly and allow a few seconds for the indicator to update.
- Charge the pack in the base or headset before testing again.
- If the pack is swollen, hot or physically damaged, stop using it and obtain an approved replacement.
Runtime is shorter than expected
Battery figures are not universal. Nova Pro’s 30-hour figure is per pack, while Maxwell’s over-80-hour specification is measured at 80 dBA. Higher volume, active microphone use, Bluetooth mixing, wireless mode and battery age can reduce runtime. Compare your usage with the published test condition before treating the difference as a fault.
Battery-care practices that extend useful life
- Rotate packs instead of leaving one unused for months at full charge.
- Store spare batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep charging contacts clean and dry.
- Use the supplied charger or a charger explicitly approved for the model.
- Do not puncture, crush, open or expose lithium-polymer packs to excessive heat.
- Retire any pack that becomes swollen, unusually hot or physically damaged.
Verdict
Buy the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless if your definition of “best” is a real hot-swap workflow with Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz gaming wireless and a charging base. Its documented 30-hour-per-pack rating and spare-pack rotation address the zero-downtime requirement directly. Pick Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II only after confirming the regional/platform SKU and included battery hardware. Pick Audeze Maxwell when replacing a battery is less important than getting more than 80 hours from a single charge, Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint and LE Audio; its internal 1,800 mAh battery makes it an endurance headset, not a hot-swappable one.
