When did Oblivion Remastered come out?
Bethesda’s April 22, 2025 announcement said the remaster was “available now.” Xbox Wire likewise reported that it “is out today.” Together, those announcements establish the Tuesday launch date and a same-day release, not a specific unlock time. If you are looking for an exact hour, the official launch coverage cited here does not provide one.
Where can you play it?
Platforms have expanded since launch, so the dates matter:

For Switch 2, Bethesda advertises 900p at 30 FPS in handheld mode and 1080p at 30 FPS when docked. Its listed features include touchscreen support, HD Rumble, gyro aiming, Joy-Con 2 mouse and motion-control options, and DLSS anti-aliasing. These are Bethesda’s published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

Xbox Wire confirmed day-one Game Pass availability in its April 22, 2025 launch coverage. That confirms access at launch; subscription catalogs, plan eligibility, and regional availability can change, so check the live Game Pass catalog and terms before subscribing or relying on access.
What changed in the remaster?
Xbox Wire describes the release as retaining the original game’s core while giving it a visual treatment in Unreal Engine 5. Its overview lists improved visuals and environments, along with 4K resolution and 60 frames per second; it does not mean every platform has identical performance.

The same official feature overview names several quality-of-life changes:
- Reworked HUD, menus, and map, plus improved system UI for features such as Persuasion and Clairvoyance.
- Changes to leveling, encumbrance, non-combat perks, and other mechanics, as well as enemy scaling.
- Accessibility features, additional autosaves, and revised first- and third-person camera options.
These are official descriptions of the remaster, not a claim that every system has been independently tested here. Bethesda’s extended-look article quotes Virtuos Executive Producer Alex Murphy: “Oblivion is the heart and soul of the Remaster.”

Bethesda announced a limited-time Physical Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on October 13, 2025. The disc grants access to the base game, but an additional download is required. A code provides the digital extras, including the unique armor, weapons, and horse armor sets, artbook, and soundtrack app. Bethesda said availability was initially in North America, South America, and Europe, with additional listed regions planned for October 31, 2025; it directs buyers to local retailers for availability and price.
The original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion launched in 2006. Bethesda’s remaster announcement arrived nearly 19 years later, with the same-day release making the Tuesday date a surprise launch rather than a previously announced launch window.
