Black Desert Mobile became available through the Mac App Store on February 28, 2023. It can run on Apple-silicon Macs that meet the current listing’s requirements—an M1 chip or later and macOS 11.0 or later—but Apple classifies it as an iPad-designed app, not a macOS-verified game.
What happened on February 28, 2023?
Pearl Abyss announced that Black Desert Mobile was available to download from the Mac App Store on February 28, 2023. The release coincided with the game’s Hashashin Awakening update, which introduced Zayed. The announcement also named MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio among supported Apple-silicon Mac families. VentureBeat’s coverage of the announcement described the initial compatibility as covering Apple-silicon Macs released from 2020 onward.
The launch announcement included an Amazon Prime Gaming rewards campaign scheduled to run from February 28 through August 22, 2023. That was a time-limited launch promotion, not a current offer.
Is it a native Mac game?
Not according to its current U.S. App Store classification. Apple labels the app “Designed for iPad” and “Not verified for macOS.” In practical terms, it is the mobile game made available on compatible Apple-silicon Macs, rather than a separately identified native macOS client. The listing does not establish Mac-specific interface or performance guarantees.

Which Macs are compatible?
The current U.S. App Store listing gives the requirements as macOS 11.0 or later and an Apple M1 chip or later. It does not list Intel Macs as compatible, so treat Intel models as unsupported unless the App Store confirms availability for your particular Mac.

How to install it on a Mac
- Open the Mac App Store and search for Black Desert Mobile.
- Open the listing published by Pearl Abyss Corp. If it does not appear, check your Mac’s chip and macOS version, and make sure you are viewing the Mac-compatible listing in your region.
- Confirm that the Mac has an Apple M1 chip or later and runs macOS 11.0 or later, then select Get or the download button.
- Launch the game after installation, sign in or create the required game account, and allow any additional game data to download.
The App Store page may retain iPhone- and iPad-oriented wording or screenshots. That does not by itself mean Mac installation is unavailable; the listing’s Mac compatibility and requirements are the relevant checks.

What did the Zayed update add?
The Mac debut arrived alongside Hashashin Awakening, which added Zayed, a sand-themed fighter wielding dual glaives. The launch announcement named four of his abilities: Purge, Ensnaring Sands, Condemnation and Desert’s Shadow. These were features of the February 2023 update, not a claim about the game’s newest content today; the App Store version history shows later updates and classes.
What should Mac players expect from controls?
Do not assume that playing on a Mac guarantees the keyboard-and-mouse experience of a desktop MMO. App Store reviews include reports of keyboard problems after the “Land of the Morning” update, as well as a 2024 report that keyboard and mouse were working. Other reviewers have asked for gamepad support. These are user reports, not official technical documentation, and indicate that input behavior may depend on the game build or Mac configuration. Reviews on the Malaysian App Store listing provide additional user-reported context.

The U.S. App Store lists the download as free, with in-app purchases and random-item purchases. That makes it free to download, not a purchase-free game. - A reasonable fit: Apple-silicon Mac owners who want to play the mobile MMO on a larger screen, especially if they already play Black Desert Mobile and are comfortable with an iPad-origin app.
- Probably not a fit: Intel Mac owners, players seeking Black Desert Online, or anyone who requires a verified native macOS interface or guaranteed desktop-style controls.
- Check before committing: If a specific keyboard or controller setup matters to you, test it in the current build. The listing confirms processor and operating-system compatibility, but does not provide Mac-specific performance benchmarks.
