There is no verified live $100 PS5 deal as of August 12, 2026. The documented $100 discount was part of Black Friday 2025 and has expired. Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27; until Sony or a retailer confirms a new promotion, the useful question is what a genuine $100 reduction would mean against today’s prices.
The $100 PS5 deal is not live yet
As of August 12, 2026, there is no verified live $100-off Black Friday deal on the PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro. The $100 promotion documented in the available research was Sony’s Black Friday 2025 offer, which has expired. Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, so any 2026 pricing should be treated as unconfirmed until Sony or a retailer publishes the offer.
That historical sale is still useful because it gives shoppers a realistic benchmark. If Sony repeats a $100 reduction and its current U.S. recommended prices remain unchanged, the approximate sale prices would be $549.99 for the 1TB disc-equipped PS5 Slim, $499.99 for the PS5 Slim Digital Edition, and $799.99 for the PS5 Pro. Those are comparison prices—not announced 2026 deals—and the final price could differ because of bundles, retailer discounts, taxes, or a later Sony price change.
Current U.S. PS5 prices to use as your baseline
Sony’s U.S. recommended retail prices took effect on April 2, 2026. These are the prices against which a Black Friday discount should be measured:
| Model | Current U.S. MSRP | Storage | Disc drive | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim disc model | $649.99 | 1TB | Included | Physical and digital game buyers |
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition | $599.99 | 825GB | Not included; compatible add-on available | Download-focused buyers seeking the lowest entry price |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | 2TB | Not included; compatible add-on available | Premium 4K gaming and enhanced supported titles |
Sony’s Direct storefront may display rounded whole-dollar figures—approximately $649, $599, and $899—while Sony’s formal recommended prices are $649.99, $599.99, and $899.99. Before buying, compare the exact price for the specific model, storage configuration, and bundle.

PS5 Slim disc versus Digital Edition
For most shoppers, the standard PS5 Slim is the value choice. It runs the same PS5 game ecosystem as the Digital Edition and is substantially less expensive than the PS5 Pro. The important decision is whether you want a built-in disc drive.

Choose the PS5 Slim disc model if you:
- Buy used, discounted, borrowed, or physical PS5 and PS4 games.
- Want to resell games after finishing them.
- Watch 4K Blu-ray or Blu-ray movies on the console.
- Want the flexibility to choose between discs and digital downloads.
The disc-equipped model costs $50 more than the Digital Edition at the current official prices, but that premium can be worthwhile if you buy even a few physical games or want a Blu-ray player. A future $100 discount would put the disc model at approximately $549.99 if Sony’s baseline remains unchanged. When a live listing has been checked, compare the exact configuration of the PS5 Slim console rather than assuming every “PS5 Slim” listing includes a drive.

- Buy all games through the PlayStation Store.
- Use PlayStation Plus or another download-focused library.
- Want the lowest upfront price and do not need Blu-ray playback.
- Are comfortable giving up the used-game and resale market.
The Digital Edition starts at $599.99 officially, or approximately $499.99 under the historical $100-off benchmark. It is not necessarily the cheapest long-term option for a player who regularly finds lower prices on used physical games. The console can accept a separately sold disc drive when the drive is compatible with the relevant slim model group, so buyers who may change their mind should include that future accessory cost in the decision.
Why the PS5 Pro costs more
PS5 Pro is Sony’s premium model, not simply a PS5 Slim with more storage. Sony lists advanced ray tracing, AI-enhanced image clarity through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), higher and more consistent frame rates in supported games, 2TB of built-in storage, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility, and Game Boost for a large library of PS4 games.

- 🚀 CPU: 3.5GHz, 8-core AMD Zen 2
- 🚀 Storage: Custom 825GB SSD
- 🚀 RAM: 16GB GDDR6
- 🚀 GPU: 10.3 teraflop RDNA 2 GPU
Those features make the Pro most appealing to someone with a good 4K display who notices differences in image quality, ray-traced lighting, and performance modes. The value is less obvious if you play on an older 1080p television, sit far from the screen, or primarily want access to PS5 games at the lowest reasonable cost.
Important PS5 Pro limitations
- Enhancements are game-dependent. Sony describes Pro features for compatible titles. Every PS5 game does not automatically receive the same visual or performance improvement.
- There is no built-in disc drive. The PS5 Pro is sold as a digital console. Sony’s compatible removable drive is an additional purchase.
- The premium remains large even after $100 off. At the hypothetical $799.99 price, the Pro would still cost $150 more than the current $649.99 disc-equipped Slim before adding a drive or other accessories.
- A premium display helps justify it. The benefits are harder to appreciate without a capable 4K screen and games that support the relevant enhancements.
If you already own a high-quality 4K display and want the best available PlayStation image quality and frame-rate options, the PS5 Pro console is the model to watch. Do not treat $799.99 as a confirmed sale price, however; it is only the current MSRP minus the historical $100 discount.
Do PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim Digital buyers need a disc drive?
Neither the PS5 Pro nor the PS5 Slim Digital Edition includes a disc drive in the box. Sony identifies its removable drive as an add-on for PS5 Pro and compatible PS5 Digital Edition slim models. That accessory restores the ability to play compatible PS5 and PS4 game discs and use Blu-ray media.
Rank #4
- Enjoy smooth and fluid high frame rate gameplay at up to 120 fps for compatible games, with support for 120Hz output on 4K displays.
- PS5 consoles support an 8K output, so you can play games on your 4320p resolution display.
- Maximize your play sessions with near-instant load times for installed PS5 games.
- 825GB SSD allows ultra-fast load times, while 3-D audio output produces crisp acoustics.
- Explore uncharted virtual territories and slay dragons with this sleek Sony PlayStation 5 gaming console.
Before ordering a PS5 disc drive, confirm that the listing is the correct Sony-compatible drive and that the console model belongs to the supported group. Do not assume that a generic USB optical drive will work: the PS5’s game-disc functionality requires the compatible console accessory. Also remember that the drive adds to the effective cost of a Digital Edition or Pro purchase, potentially reducing the apparent saving.
Other costs to check before calling a deal “$100 off”
- Vertical stand: Sony sells a vertical stand separately. If you plan to position the console upright, include it in the setup budget rather than assuming it is in the box.
- Storage: The Slim disc model has 1TB, the Digital Edition has 825GB, and the Pro has 2TB. Installed games can consume substantial space, so storage may matter more than a small price difference. Sony identifies the officially licensed Western Digital SN850P as an internal PS5 storage-expansion option, but most buyers do not need to purchase an SSD immediately.
- Extra controllers: Families and local multiplayer buyers may need another DualSense controller. It is a separate accessory unless a particular bundle says otherwise.
- Games: A console-only discount may be less valuable than a slightly smaller discount that includes a game you would actually buy. Compare the total package, not just the headline percentage.
- Tax and delivery: The prices above are U.S. recommended prices before applicable sales tax and delivery charges.
How to verify a real Black Friday PS5 deal
- Identify the exact model. Confirm whether the listing is the 1TB disc model, 825GB Digital Edition, or 2TB Pro. “PS5 Slim” alone is not enough.
- Compare with the current baseline. Use $649.99, $599.99, and $899.99 unless Sony announces another price change before the sale.
- Separate cash savings from bundle value. Check whether the $100 is an actual price reduction or the claimed value of an included game, controller, or subscription.
- Check the drive situation. A Digital Edition or Pro listing without a drive is normal, but the listing should say so clearly. Add the cost of the compatible drive if you need physical media.
- Read the sale terms. Confirm the start and end dates, U.S. availability, seller, return policy, warranty coverage, and whether membership or a coupon is required.
- Compare the final checkout total. Taxes, shipping, and an essential accessory can materially change the real cost.
Which PS5 should you buy?
| Your priority | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest entry price | PS5 Slim Digital Edition | It is currently $50 below the disc model and is suitable for an all-digital library. |
| Best flexibility and long-term value | PS5 Slim disc model | It supports both physical and digital games, Blu-ray discs, used games, and resale. |
| Best image quality and performance options | PS5 Pro | It adds premium rendering and performance features for compatible games, plus 2TB storage. |
| Physical media with a Pro | PS5 Pro plus compatible disc drive | The drive is optional, so budget for it separately. |
For most deal hunters, the PS5 Slim disc model is the safest target. It offers the broadest ownership options without the Pro’s large premium. The Digital Edition is the better bargain only when you are confident that you will remain download-only. The Pro makes sense when you already have the display and the interest needed to benefit from its supported-game enhancements.
Bottom line on the 2026 PS5 Black Friday watch
The verified $100 PS5 promotion belongs to Black Friday 2025, not a live August 2026 sale. Watch November 27, 2026, as the key date, but wait for an official offer or a verified retailer listing before treating any price as real. If the current MSRP remains in place, $549.99 for the disc Slim, $499.99 for the Digital Edition, and $799.99 for the Pro would represent the straightforward $100-off benchmarks. Remember that the Pro and Digital Edition do not include a disc drive, and Sony’s vertical stand is also sold separately.
