Microsoft’s announcement said the 13-day sale began November 20, 2025, with savings of up to 85% on more than 3,800 items. The announcement featured Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) 40th Anniversary Edition and directed players to the Marketplace’s “Special Offers” area.
No official source cited here confirms a separate early-2025 discount on MSFS 2024 itself. If you were looking for a cheaper copy of the game, the Marketplace sale should not be treated as proof that one was available.
Was Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on sale for Black Friday 2025?
The official sale announcement confirms a Black Friday Marketplace promotion, but it does not give a sale price or discount for the MSFS 2024 base game. It describes the featured title as Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) 40th Anniversary Edition and promotes Marketplace items. “Up to 85% off” applies to eligible items in that promotion; it does not mean every item—or the 2024 game—was discounted. Microsoft’s Black Friday 2025 announcement says the sale started November 20 and ran for 13 days.
That distinction matters: buying the simulator and buying aircraft or other add-ons from its Marketplace are separate purchase decisions. The official record cited here does not establish a separate early-2025 MSFS 2024 base-game offer, so a specific price, discount, or sale date for the game cannot be confirmed.

What did the confirmed Black Friday sale include?
Microsoft said the promotion covered more than 3,800 Marketplace items, with discounts of up to 85% over 13 days starting November 20, 2025. “Up to” is a ceiling, not a discount guaranteed on every listing. The announcement directed players to open the in-simulator Marketplace and look in “Special Offers” for eligible items.
The sale announcement is not a historical price chart for MSFS 2024. It does not establish which individual items were discounted by a particular amount, nor does it establish that the base game was part of the promotion.

How to distinguish a game deal from a Marketplace deal
- Base game: A discount should identify MSFS 2024 and its edition—Standard, Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator—at the relevant storefront.
- Marketplace item: A discounted aircraft or other add-on is separate from the simulator’s base-game editions. Check the listing and platform before buying.
- Promotion scope: Verify the sale dates and the specific item’s price. A headline discount ceiling does not tell you the price of every item.
For the 2025 promotion, Microsoft named the Marketplace and its “Special Offers” area. It did not state a discounted MSFS 2024 edition or price.
What MSFS 2024 editions can you compare?
Steam lists four editions: Standard, Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, and Aviator. The launch announcement describes additional aircraft and airports across editions; the Aviator edition includes Premium Deluxe content plus Microsoft-published Marketplace aircraft developed from 2021 to 2024. The right edition depends on which included content you want, not on the Marketplace sale’s discount ceiling.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are flight controls part of the deal?
No specific joystick, controller, or peripheral discount is established by the sale announcement. Flight controls are an optional hardware purchase, separate from both the base game and Marketplace add-ons. The MSFS team noted users considering peripherals in the lead-up to launch, but that does not confirm compatibility or endorse a particular model. Before buying hardware, verify its compatibility with your platform and the game.
