Before defeating Captain Wise-Voice, finish any Lantern Warden cleanup if you want the Lantern Warden drop: beating the boss changes the Pagoda Realm prison route state. In the fight, keep the boss visible, avoid lingering beneath it, and save stamina and burst damage for knockdowns, an exposed head, or a long recovery.
Where to find Captain Wise-Voice
Captain Wise-Voice is a Yaoguai King in Chapter 3’s Pagoda Realm, near the Mani Wheel. The encounter advances Chapter 3 and changes the prison route state. The Black Myth Guide encounter guide was updated April 24, 2026.

Should you defeat the Lantern Wardens first?
If you care about the Lantern Warden drop, clear that optional content before defeating Captain Wise-Voice. The route-state change after the boss can affect access to the prison area, so treat the cleanup as a missable-route check rather than something to leave until afterward.
How to approach the fight
Keep the camera useful
Stay where you can see the boss and read its movement. Avoid standing directly under its body: the camera can lose a clear view there, making it harder to react to stomps and arena effects. Reposition early rather than trying to finish a long combo while the next attack is about to land.

Use short attacks and preserve stamina
Favor brief, safe attacks over extended strings. Keep enough stamina to move out of danger or regain a good angle; spending it all on offense can leave you unable to reposition when the boss attacks.
Spend damage during openings
Knockdowns, an exposed head, and long recovery periods are the clearest opportunities to concentrate damage. Hold back on risky attacks until one of those openings appears, then use the available time for your strongest safe damage. This is a fight about positioning and timing, not forcing maximum damage at every moment.

Is this a damage race?
No special damage threshold or mandatory attack sequence is established by the available encounter guidance. Treat the fight as a sequence of readable attacks and punish windows: keep the boss in view, avoid getting trapped beneath it, and prioritize survival and positioning over squeezing in one more hit.
