Rosy Cheeks, Gray Hair is Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong. Its main route crosses the Village of Lanxi, Webbed Hollow, and the Temple of Yellow Flowers; Purple Cloud Mountain is a separate secret area reached through an optional encounter chain. If you are following a missables checklist, pay particular attention to the Venomous Daoist’s back arms: the GameFAQs guide says the Venomous Armguard reward is forfeited if you defeat him before destroying four of them.
How Chapter 4 is organized
Game8 groups the chapter’s major progression areas into three regions. The chapter also contains optional encounters and a secret area, so a straight route through the main regions is not the same as a complete clear.

Game8’s chapter overview separates area bosses from secret bosses and includes encounters such as The Second Sister, Violet Spider, Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master, Yellow Loong, Scorpionlord, Daoist Mi, and Duskveil. The list includes both main-route and optional or secret fights; do not assume every named boss is required simply to advance through the chapter. Route through the chapter
The detailed GameFAQs walkthrough starts in the Village of Lanxi and Estate of the Zhu, passes the Second Sister, and continues into Upper Hollow and the Pool of Shattered Jade. Its route then covers named locations including Verdure Bridge, Bonevault, Middle Hollow, Cliff of Oblivion, Relief of the Fallen Loong, Lower Hollow, Hut of Immortality, The Purifying Spring, The Gathering Cave, Mountain Trail, Forest of Ferocity, Temple Entrance, and Court of Illumination.

Rather than treating the location list above as a complete checklist, use the guide’s step-by-step entries when your goal is to collect everything or avoid missing optional content. The author identifies the guide as a missables-focused personal walkthrough, version 1.01, updated September 30, 2024, and says it was written after two playthroughs. Missables and conditional rewards
Venomous Armguard
At the Venomous Daoist encounter, destroy four of the arms on his back before defeating him. The GameFAQs guide warns that defeating him without doing so forfeits the Venomous Armguard reward for that encounter. If the reward matters to your run, inspect his back during the fight and prioritize removing four arms before finishing the battle.

Chance-based cocoon drops
The GameFAQs walkthrough describes some cocoon-related drops as having a small chance. Treat these as possible drops, not guaranteed rewards; the guide does not provide a measured drop rate.
Rice Cocoons and Elder Amourworm
Rice Cocoons connect to an ancillary Spirit sequence rather than simply marking chapter progression. Game8’s related guides say to collect three Rice Cocoons in Webbed Hollow, then feed the Proto-Amourworm to Chen Loong in Zodiac Village to obtain the Elder Amourworm Spirit. How to reach Purple Cloud Mountain
- Find and defeat Venom Daoist at the Pool of Shattered Jade.
- Continue through the chapter until the later arena opposite the Fungiwoman encounter.
- Defeat Venom Daoist again. Game8 says this second defeat creates a mural portal.
- Enter the portal to reach Purple Cloud Mountain, the chapter’s secret area.
The two-fight sequence is the key distinction: defeating Venom Daoist once does not open the secret area. Game8’s chapter overview is the source for this route description; it is a third-party guide rather than official developer documentation.
Choosing a walkthrough
Use a guide that matches your goal rather than assuming that one route covers every kind of completion.

- For a missables checklist: GameFAQs gives route-level directions and flags conditional rewards, including the four-arm requirement for the Venomous Armguard. Its guide is explicitly PS5-oriented.
- For area and boss orientation: Game8 groups the chapter’s three major regions and distinguishes the secret Purple Cloud Mountain content from the main progression areas.
- For a full optional-content clear: Check whether the guide includes side paths, secret bosses, and Purple Cloud Mountain rather than only the main route.
- For version-sensitive details: Neither guide establishes behavior across current patches and every platform. Treat exact route and reward details as guide claims, not independently verified patch notes.
Chapter title and epigraph
GameFAQs places the line “Love is not about forgiving or getting even. It is never a fair game.” beneath the chapter heading, without naming a speaker. It should not be attributed to a character on the basis of that page alone.
