Their names are easy to mix up, so this guide lists each one with its chapter, Keeper’s Shrine, and nearby route landmarks. The Chapter 5 frog requires progress through the secret-area route; the Chapter 6 frog is optional late-game cleanup.

Some guides render the Chapter 5 frog’s name as “Baw-Lang-Lang-Lang.” Its precise placement is also described differently: use the frozen gate and Cooling Slope landmarks rather than relying on whether a guide labels the arena as inside Bishui Cave. Locations and route descriptions are corroborated by GameLeap’s frog-boss guide, PowerPyx’s boss guide, and Twinfinite’s frog and Tadpole guide.

Chapter 1: Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
At Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine, take the path toward the small waterway or stream junction and enter the arena. If you want to absorb the first frog Spirit after the fight, upgrade your Gourd so it can absorb Spirits before you approach the boss.
Chapter 2: Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
Start at Sandgate Village Entrance and head down into the ravine toward the flooded area. Xu Dog’s encounter and quest are along this route. The frog uses lightning-themed attacks, and this encounter is connected to a medicine-formula quest or reward; PowerPyx lists an Evil Repelling Medicament formula and a Tadpole among the rewards.

Chapter 3: Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang
At Valley of Ecstasy’s Forest of Felicity Keeper’s Shrine, turn around and enter the nearby cave or corridor. The frog is described as near the slope after the Non-White encounter and uses ice attacks.
Chapter 4: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw
From Webbed Hollow’s Lower Hollow Keeper’s Shrine, look for a concealed crevice in the wall. Follow the passage beyond the meditation spot to reach this optional boss. The entrance is easy to overlook, so inspect the wall-side route rather than continuing only along the obvious path.

Chapter 5: Baw-Lang-Lang
This frog is reached from the Field of Fire and Cooling Slope area, beyond a frozen gate. First progress the Five Element Carts questline to open the Chapter 5 secret-area route; then follow the route toward the gate. Guides differ on whether the arena is technically within Bishui Cave or just before it, so the gate and Cooling Slope are the more reliable landmarks.
Chapter 6: Lang-Baw-Baw
After Somersault Cloud becomes available, explore the Verdant Path side of Mount Huaguai Foothills for this optional frog. It is late-game cleanup rather than a required stop on the main route. A guide updated September 10, 2025, advises flanking the boss, avoiding the stun from its roar, and using charged heavy attacks to break its rock form; see Black Myth Guide’s Lang-Baw-Baw strategy.

What the frog fights unlock
Each frog encounter can provide a Tadpole, used to upgrade the Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang Spirit. Twinfinite reports that the final upgrade allows transformation into an elemental frog selected at random. Separately, GameLeap reports that defeating all six frogs awards The Clamor of Frogs trophy or achievement. Spirit upgrades and the six-boss trophy or achievement are related goals, but they are not the same reward.
