Black Myth: Wukong — How to Beat Guangmou

To beat Guangmou, rush in with a running heavy attack, cast Immobilize, and punish him with a quick-attack combo. Keep moving to avoid his tracking orbs and dodge his poison spit sideways. When he summons snake heads, either clear them before they pepper you with poison projectiles or try to interrupt the summon with Immobilize.

Where to find Guangmou

Guangmou is a Chapter 1 boss in Bamboo Grove, near the Snake Trail shrine. From Snake Trail, follow the route down toward the lower river area, past the snake enemy, and through the bamboo grove to the path’s end. The arena is at the back, between rocks and beyond two fires.

How to handle Guangmou’s attacks

Tracking spirit orbs

Guangmou fires projectiles that track you. Keep moving and dodge rather than committing to a long stationary attack string. Re-engage when the projectiles have passed.

Poison spit

When Guangmou begins spitting poison, dodge to either side. The attack does not change direction once it starts, so moving laterally gets you out of its path. Avoid standing directly in front of him while he attacks.

Fans and area effects

Watch where the area effect is placed. If the circle is under you, dodge inward; if it is centered beneath Guangmou, retreat until the attack resolves, then close the distance again.

What to do when Guangmou summons snake heads

At around half health, Guangmou may summon small snake heads that fire poison projectiles. They can interrupt your attacks, so deal with them rather than continuing to focus only on the boss.

• Clear the heads: Switch target lock to each snake head and hit it. The heads die in one hit, according to PowerPyx’s walkthrough, and eventually disappear.
• Try to interrupt the cast: Prima Games describes using Immobilize when Guangmou begins the “Boys…” cue. This may stop the summon, but timing matters and it is not guaranteed.

A reliable opening and fight sequence

1. Run toward Guangmou and use a heavy attack to close the distance.
2. Cast Immobilize, then land a quick-attack combo while he is held.
3. Keep moving as you fight; dodge the tracking orbs and move sideways when he starts his poison spit.
4. When snake heads appear, target and clear them, or try Immobilize during the summoning cue.
5. If you have already defeated Guangzhi and unlocked Red Tides, use its heavy attacks for an optional damage burst.
