How to reach Scorpionlord
Purple Cloud Mountain is a Chapter 4 secret area unlocked by defeating Venom Daoist twice: first in Webbed Hollow, then near the Temple of Yellow Flowers. Game8’s Scorpionlord guide identifies these fights as the prerequisite for reaching the area.

- Defeat Venom Daoist in Webbed Hollow.
- Defeat him again near the Temple of Yellow Flowers to unlock Purple Cloud Mountain.
- Travel to the Bounds of Deity’s Abode shrine.
- Climb the stairs to the small building. Scorpionlord is resting on its roof.
- Break the alcohol jars in front of the building to provoke him and begin the fight.

Fight Scorpionlord before Duskveil
Scorpionlord is missable as a separate boss. If you trigger Duskveil first, Scorpionlord disappears from his encounter location. He may appear during Duskveil’s battle and die as its second phase begins, but that does not preserve his standalone fight or its rewards. Clear Scorpionlord first if you want to complete his encounter. The Wukong Wiki describes this alternate appearance; PowerPyx also marks the boss as missable.

How to beat Scorpionlord
Scorpionlord is fast and aggressive. His documented attack families include quick stinger and tail strikes, sweeping tail attacks that spread poison, rapid claw strings, and a grab followed by a sting. The available guides do not establish dependable frame timings or a complete move order, so focus on recognizing the type of attack and avoiding the whole sequence rather than relying on a precise dodge count.
Survive the attack strings
- Do not trade hits into a long combo. Back off or dodge through the sequence, then wait for Scorpionlord to finish before attacking.
- Watch for tail sweeps that spread poison; avoid standing in the affected area while looking for an opening.
- Treat the grab as a separate high-risk threat. Keep moving and be ready to evade rather than committing to an attack when he closes in.
Punish recoveries and use stagger
Use a cautious rhythm: evade the full string, then deal damage during a clear recovery. Stagger tools can create a shorter, safer opportunity to attack, but avoid turning that opening into an attempt to trade through his next sequence. Black Myth Guide’s Scorpionlord guide likewise emphasizes stagger opportunities and avoiding long strings.
