If Black Myth: Wukong is stuttering on your PC, first check whether it began after a game update and whether the game is compiling shaders. Then verify your graphics settings, remove update-incompatible mods if applicable, and compare your PC with the game’s listed requirements. There is no confirmed single cause or fix for every player; the right next step depends on when the hitch occurs and your hardware and settings.
Start with when the stutter happens
Note whether the problem is continuous during gameplay, limited to loading or shader compilation, or started after a game update or driver change. Also record your game version, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage type, driver version, resolution, and graphics options. Those details help distinguish an update-related issue from a configuration bottleneck; the available official guidance does not identify a cause for an individual PC.
Try fixes that match the symptom
Shader compilation crashes or does not finish
Game Science’s January 14, 2026 (UTC+8) patch notes for version 1.0.21.23831 say an update may require shader recompilation. If the game crashes during compilation, the developer advises restarting until compilation completes or skipping shader compilation. This instruction addresses compilation problems; it does not establish shader compilation as the cause of all gameplay stutter. Read the official patch notes.
The problem began after an update and you use mods
Game Science advises players who use mods to uninstall them and verify the game files before restarting after an update, because a patch can create mod-compatibility issues. This is relevant when abnormal behavior followed patching, but it is not evidence that mods cause every stutter.

Performance is unexpectedly low with Super Resolution enabled
In the same patch notes, Game Science says it fixed a malfunction that caused performance below expectations in some cases, as well as an issue where Super Resolution was not set correctly after applying recommended graphics settings. Check that your installed version is 1.0.21.23831 or later and recheck the Super Resolution option and recommended settings. The notes do not show that every player with low performance has this specific issue.

Steam says the requirements were tested with DLSS, FSR, or XeSS enabled. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee smooth performance at every resolution or graphics setting. If your PC is near the minimum, compare the resolution and options you are using with the system’s capabilities rather than assuming one specific upscaler will solve the problem. If the stutter continues
- Record the context: note the game version and whether the issue began after a patch or driver change.
- Describe the pattern: say whether it is continuous, tied to loading or compilation, or happens only in particular circumstances.
- List the configuration: include CPU, GPU, RAM, storage type, driver version, resolution, and active graphics options.
- Use those details to narrow the cause: the published guidance does not establish a driver-specific fix or diagnose an individual PC, so avoid treating any one setting or hardware change as a guaranteed cure.
