Is the ARC Raiders Expedition Worth It? What You Give Up and Gain

ARC Raiders’ Expedition is worth doing if you want another progression run and value its permanent rewards more than your current Raider’s progress. If you still want to use your current build, finish quests, or keep blueprints and workshop upgrades you worked for, staying put is a valid choice. The Expedition is an optional reset—not a mandatory wipe—and its requirements and rewards can change between cycles.

What an Expedition means for your Raider

Departing resets character-bound progress so you can begin a new progression run. Embark’s original system description lists levels, skills, items and inventory, workshop progress, and crafting capabilities among the losses. A later, detailed official list says cosmetics, Raider Deck progress, unlocked map regions, leaderboard position, Trials, Codex entries, and Raider Tokens are unaffected. The descriptions were published at different times and do not match perfectly in every detail, so check the current in-game departure confirmation before committing.

The cost is not just the gear in your stash: you may also need to rebuild workshop and crafting progress and regain levels or blueprints you care about. Embark has said the departing Raider skips much of the initial onboarding, but that does not eliminate the work of rebuilding progress. The system is voluntary; you can continue on your current Raider instead.

What you get—and what lasts

Expedition rewards have included permanent stash expansion and cosmetics, as well as bonuses tied to consecutive departures. Those are different kinds of value: a permanent unlock can remain useful even if you stop departing, while streak bonuses depend on continuing through later windows.

Rewards and requirements have changed by cycle

Embark’s April 2026 update described these specific rewards and rules for that cycle:

  • Stash space: +12 spaces for each completed Expedition.
  • Skill Points: a damage challenge awarded one through five points at 5,000, 10,000, 30,000, 50,000, and 100,000 damage, respectively. Embark described 100,000 damage as approximately equivalent to destroying 20 Bastions; that is the developer’s comparison, not an independently measured average.
  • Catch-up points: missed Skill Points could be caught up at 300,000 Coins or stash value per point.
  • Consecutive-departure buffs: total bonuses rose across consecutive departures to 5%→10%→15% XP, 6%→12%→18% Scrappy materials, and 60%→70%→80% repair value. Missing a departure window resets these streak-based bonuses.

These figures are cycle-specific, not guaranteed future rewards. In the second-Expedition announcement, Embark instead tied five Skill Points to 3 million Coins, or 600,000 per point, while catch-up was 300,000 stash value per missed point. The later April 2026 update replaced that five-point method with the damage challenge. Check the live cycle’s announcement and in-game screen rather than assuming an older threshold still applies.

Why some players say it is worth it

Players who enjoy the reset describe it as a way to make leveling matter again, restart the blueprint hunt, or create a fresh challenge after exhausting their goals. For them, rebuilding is part of the appeal rather than wasted effort. One returning-player commenter recommended the reset more for daily players who had finished the quests they cared about than for people with only a few hours a week and unfinished content; that is one player’s advice, not a proven playtime cutoff.

Why other players skip it

The same restart can feel like tedious repetition if you are attached to your current build or do not want to redo quests, benches, and progression. One player who had completed three Expeditions said they would not depart for a fourth because the cosmetics did not appeal, they had little time to enjoy a maxed skill tree, and rebuilding and repeating quests felt like too much work. A PC Gamer columnist also judged the reward insufficient for their own time and progression costs. These are individual views, not evidence of community-wide consensus.

Another discussion participant said friends who reset and friends who stayed seemed to have no obvious practical difference in play. That anecdote is a reminder that the choice is primarily about which progression experience you want, not a guaranteed advantage over other players.

How to decide whether to depart

Depart now if… Keep your current Raider if…
You have run out of goals that matter to you and want to level, rebuild, and hunt for blueprints again. You still value your current level, skills, inventory, workshop or crafting progress, or blueprints.
You want the permanent rewards offered in the active cycle enough to accept the reset cost. You would rather spend time using your mature build than earning cycle rewards or temporary streak buffs.
You have checked the current requirements and are comfortable with what the confirmation screen says resets. You have unfinished content, limited time to play, or are uncertain which progress the current cycle will remove.

ARC Raiders design director Virgil Watkins described the system as “an optional reset mechanic,” saying it gives players who want to repeat the loop a way to do so while letting others keep playing on their current character. There is no published statistic in the cited sources showing what share of players depart or consider it worthwhile, so player posts should be read as personal experiences rather than a vote.

Check before you commit

  1. Read the active Expedition announcement and in-game requirements; do not rely on a threshold from an earlier cycle.
  2. Review the departure confirmation screen’s reset and carry-over list, especially for character progress you are reluctant to lose.
  3. Compare the permanent reward with the time and repetition required to rebuild the progress you value.
  4. Depart only if the new progression run itself sounds appealing; otherwise, continue on your current Raider.
