Black Myth: Wukong reached a recorded peak of 2,415,714 concurrent Steam players on 22 August 2024, two days after its Steam release. That is the game’s historical peak—not its current player count, and not Steam’s platform-wide concurrent-user record.

What Steam record did Black Myth: Wukong break?
There are two different records to keep separate: how many people played this game simultaneously, and how many people were using Steam simultaneously across the whole platform. The 2,415,714 figure is the game’s peak. It is not the number of people online across Steam.
PC Gamer reported on 26 August 2024 that Steam surpassed 37 million concurrent users for the first time, describing Black Myth: Wukong as a major contributor. That platform-wide milestone occurred on 25 August, three days after the game’s individual peak. The contribution is PC Gamer’s attribution, not a measure of the game’s own player count. PC Gamer’s report covers the platform milestone.

Is Black Myth: Wukong still topping Steam charts?
The headline’s “already” describes the game’s launch-period performance in August 2024; it does not establish where the game ranks today. SteamDB’s live player count changes over time, so a historical all-time peak cannot answer how many people are playing now. A current ranking or live count needs to be checked on the chart at the time of reading and should not be confused with the all-time peak.
What other launch milestone was reported?
A secondary overview reports that Game Science announced 10 million units sold as of 23 August 2024. This is a dated launch-era milestone, not a current sales total. The overview is secondary context; the figure should be understood as attributed reporting rather than a presently verified sales count.
