In its January 17, 2025 update ahead of Season 02, Activision said it had banned more than 136,000 accounts from Black Ops 6 Ranked Play since the mode launched. The same announcement outlined anti-cheat measures and planned Ranked Play changes, including console cross-play controls and a team forfeit vote. These were plans and figures reported at that time, not confirmation that every feature later shipped or remains available.
What Activision said about Ranked Play bans
Activision reported “Over 136,000 Ranked Play account bans since the mode launched” in its January 17, 2025 community update. That figure is limited to Ranked Play accounts. The post did not break it down by platform, ban type, game, or any period beyond the mode’s launch-to-date total, so it should not be read as a count of all Black Ops 6 or Warzone bans.

How the announced anti-cheat measures were meant to work
Activision described a mix of detection, account signals, reporting safeguards, and investigations. It said updated behavioral detection models looked for activity such as aimbotting and used additional data points, including account trust and hardware identifiers, to target serial cheaters.
- Behavior and account signals: Updated models were intended to identify suspicious play, with account trust and hardware identifiers among the other signals used to focus on repeat offenders.
- Report safeguards: Multiple reports from one player against another would count as a single report. Activision also described spam-report detection and warnings.
- Investigation of frequent teammates: When a cheater was banned, accounts that had regularly partied with that player could be flagged for investigation into boosting or other behavior. The post described an investigation flag, not an automatic ban of every teammate.
- Additional technical protections: The announcement listed client- and server-side detection improvements, a kernel-level driver update, driver security and encryption improvements, and tampering detection for Season 02. It placed additional player-authentication technology in the Season 03-and-beyond category.
The update distinguished measures it described as live on January 17, 2025 from those planned for later seasons. Its planned timing is not proof that every item was subsequently implemented.

Why Activision said it does not use IP-based bans
Activision said it avoids IP-based anti-cheat bans because a shared internet address can include people who are not responsible for cheating. It gave a college campus or internet café as examples where banning an address could affect an entire group because of one targeted machine. The update stated: “We do not utilize IP-based bans for anti-cheat because they tend to take action against entire groups within a range that aren’t problematic.”

Can you turn off cross-play in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play?
Activision said console players would be able to disable cross-play in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play during Season 02, with the option also planned for Warzone Ranked Play. The January 17 announcement described the feature as in testing and did not specify an exact release date beyond the season. It did not announce an equivalent toggle for PC players. Because the available account is a dated announcement, it does not confirm whether the setting is currently available.
Can a Ranked team forfeit without an SR penalty?
Under the announced Vote to Forfeit rule, yes: if the team vote passed, the match would count as a standard loss without an additional SR penalty or suspension. Activision said the feature was planned for the start of Season 02, to give teams an option when heavily beaten or down a player. This is the announced rule, not independent confirmation of current in-game behavior.

What the announcement does not establish
The update provides a dated account of what Activision said was live and what it planned. It does not establish current feature availability, later revisions to SR thresholds or deployment fees, or a present-day ban total.
