Activision describes PC crashes as potentially occurring at launch or during public Multiplayer matches. Its guidance is general crash-reduction advice, not a diagnosis of these two codes. Check the [MWIII PC crash and freeze guide] and the [MWIII known-issues page] for current information; the latter lists identified or reported issues under investigation or scheduled to be fixed.

Check system requirements and ventilation
Confirm that your PC or laptop meets MWIII’s minimum system requirements. Make sure it has adequate ventilation and is in a cool, well-ventilated location.

Close background applications
Close other programs before launching the game. If the crash persists, look especially at third-party input-remapping software, overlays, and recording tools. Activision warns that these applications may interfere with gameplay or startup, even if they are not running when you launch or play; it suggests uninstalling them if crashes continue.

Check the graphics-card driver recommendation
Confirm that your graphics card has a driver version recommended by Activision. The crash guide cited here does not specify a current version, so check Activision’s current driver guidance rather than applying a version listed for a different Call of Duty game.

Submit Activision’s PC crash report with the displayed code and details that could help identify when and how the crash occurs.

What to include in a crash report
Activision’s [PC crash-report form] asks for information such as the displayed error code, graphics card, when the crash occurs, how often it happens, game mode, and steps to reproduce it. Before filling it out, note:
- the exact code as displayed, including punctuation and any final letter;
- when the crash happens and how often;
- your graphics-card model;
- the game mode or map, if relevant; and
- any repeatable steps that lead to the crash.
The form also accepts links to screenshots or video and an uploaded crash-log archive. To create the archive, close the game, open its installation folder, and run CrashLogGenerator.exe. The generated Error Log ZIP is saved in Documents. Upload it through a hosting service and provide the link on the form.

MWIII’s known-issues page is described as a continuing list, so check it for changes that may be relevant to your crash. Activision’s crash-and-freeze article was updated March 5, 2024; its known-issues page was updated August 7, 2026. Driver recommendations can change too, so consult the current official guidance rather than relying on an old version number.
