Its headline feature was Omnimovement, alongside maps, modes, loadouts, progression and rewards that rolled out during the event. Here’s what players could try, and what the beta did—and did not—establish about the game.
What was the Black Ops 6 beta?
Activision presented the beta as an early opportunity to try Omnimovement and other gameplay changes, plus Treyarch-built maps, custom loadouts, weapons, equipment, perks and multiplayer modes. An internet connection was required. The event was a multiplayer test, not a trial of the full game’s Campaign or Zombies content. Activision’s July 2024 announcement described the event and its access schedule.

Omnimovement was the beta’s central selling point. Activision promoted the system as a new movement feature, and Xbox Wire described the beta as players’ first chance to test it. Those descriptions establish what the event was intended to showcase, not an independent assessment of responsiveness, balance or whether the system improved the series.
When did the beta run?
The beta was split into two weekends. These dates are historical and do not indicate a current sign-up or access opportunity.

The dates and eligibility came from Activision’s announcement. Because the event ended in 2024, “beta access” is not a present-day way to play Black Ops 6.
Which maps and modes were in the beta?
Activision’s 2024 beta guide lists eight maps and eight modes across the event, with content arriving over both weekends. The maps were divided into Core and Strike playlists:

The guide names Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Order and Face Off variants among the available modes. Weekend Two added Gunfight and Face Off Kill Order, with further content added during Weekend One as well. The guide’s eight-map and eight-mode totals describe the complete beta, not the opening lineup on the first day.
How did progression and rewards work?
The event included a Training Course on Protocol led by Frank Woods. Players unlocked Custom Loadouts at Level 4. Activision recommended reaching the Weekend One level 20 cap to access the available Custom Loadout content; Weekend Two raised the cap to level 30. These were event-specific progression limits, not permanent limits in the released game.

Xbox Wire’s 2024 beta guide reported that players could earn Weapon Charms, Operator Skins and a Weapon Blueprint, and that earned beta rewards would be usable in the full game after launch. That describes the original event; it does not mean those rewards can still be earned or redeemed through the beta now.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 released on October 25, 2024. Activision’s product page lists PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft PC Store, Steam, Battle.net and Game Pass as platforms. The full game launched with a Campaign, Multiplayer and Round-Based Zombies. Activision describes launch Multiplayer as 16 maps—12 Core maps for 6v6 and four Strike maps playable in 2v2 or 6v6—and Zombies as two maps at launch.

Those launch details provide context for what followed the test, but they do not establish current store availability, edition contents or prices. Availability and purchase options depend on platform and current regional listings.
What can the beta tell you about the game?
The official event information establishes what players were invited to try: Omnimovement, a changing selection of multiplayer maps and modes, loadout progression and unlockable rewards. It does not establish how the game performed on a particular platform or whether its movement, matchmaking, balance or overall feel was enjoyable. Those judgments require documented firsthand play, so the beta’s promotional descriptions should not be mistaken for independent hands-on findings.
