Check Activision and platform service status first, then compare your game session, platform connection, account, and network before changing router settings.
What the Puget–Altus error means
PUGET – ALTUS is an online-services connection failure, not a diagnosis of a particular server, account penalty, missing content, or damaged game file. The cause could be an Activision or platform service interruption, a local game or device session, an account-specific problem, or the route through your home network. The message by itself does not distinguish among those possibilities.
How to troubleshoot it in order

Check Activision and platform status
Open Activision’s Online Services page and select Black Ops 6. Also check the status of the platform you play on. If an incident is listed, wait for service recovery and try again before changing local settings; router or game-file changes cannot resolve a wider service interruption.

Refresh the game and device session
Fully close Black Ops 6 instead of leaving it suspended, then reopen it. Install any pending game update. If the error remains, restart your console or PC and router, then try again.

Test the platform’s connection
On PS5, go to Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection. If internet access or platform sign-in fails, address that first. Other platforms have different menus; use their own network and sign-in checks rather than assuming the game installation is at fault.

Compare your usual connection with another path
If you play over Wi-Fi, try one launch over Ethernet if available. You can also briefly test another trusted network. These are comparisons, not guaranteed fixes: if the alternate connection works while your home network does not, the home router or ISP path is implicated. If both connections fail the same way, that result does not support changing router settings.

Check the profile or entitlement only when symptoms point there
If another profile can play on the same console, or the affected game displays a padlock or missing digital entitlement, inspect the affected account and license state. These checks are more useful when the problem follows one profile or an ownership symptom; account unlinking and license restoration are not routine first steps for this error.

Consider router guidance only after isolating the home network
If another network works, the home connection does not, and ordinary restarts have not helped, consult Activision’s current Call of Duty port guidance. Check the entry for the relevant game and platform before changing router settings; do not copy port numbers from a guide for a different title.

Give support useful diagnostic details
If the error persists, record the exact message, platform, region, date and time, service-status results, whether another profile works, and whether another network changed the outcome. Those comparisons help show whether the issue follows the account, platform, or connection.

When not to reinstall or change settings
The error code does not establish that game files are corrupt, so file verification or reinstalling is not a strong first response. Likewise, avoid unlinking accounts or changing router ports before a comparison points to that layer. Start with service status and reversible checks; use the result to choose the next step.
