Reporting confirms recasting and documents the labor dispute; it does not establish a verified count of departing performers, one motive for every casting change, or that AI voices replaced the original actors.
Did nearly all Black Ops 6 Zombies actors quit?
No verified reporting establishes that nearly all the actors quit. In December 2024, Insider Gaming attributed that claim to leaker GhostOfHope and reported that Activision had not responded at the time. That is an allegation, not a confirmed count or an independently established explanation for the casting changes.

Separately, Game Developer reported that Activision acknowledged recasting several Zombies characters during the strike. That reporting supports the fact of recasting, but it does not prove that all or nearly all performers left, or that every change happened because of AI concerns.
Which Black Ops 6 Zombies characters were recast?
Players noticed changed performances for William Peck and Samantha Maxis, who appears in Black Ops 6 as S.A.M. Game Developer reported that Zeke Alton had previously voiced Peck and Julie Nathanson had previously voiced Maxis. Alton said that, to the best of his knowledge, the later performance of Peck was not his.

The report did not identify the replacement performer for Peck in the credits, and the available credits made it difficult to connect every performer to every character. The public record therefore supports specific changes, not a complete roster of who performed each role before and after the recasting.
Was the recasting caused by the AI-protection dispute?
The strike and concerns about AI protections are relevant context, but the available reporting does not establish a single cause for every recast. Black Ops 6 was already in development before the video-game strike began in July 2024. Game Developer explained that Side Letter Six of the applicable agreement allowed work to continue on qualifying pre-strike games, while performers on daily contracts could choose not to sign a new contract. It also noted that a company may not have offered a contract, among other possible explanations.
Those circumstances mean a casting change alone does not show whether a performer declined work, was not offered a contract, or was replaced for another reason. Activision told Game Developer: “We respect the personal choice of these performers. Out of respect for all parties, we won’t add new commentary about the ongoing negotiations with SAG-AFTRA. We look forward to a mutually beneficial outcome as soon as possible.”

Were the original actors replaced by AI voices?
The reporting cited here does not establish that AI-generated voices replaced the original performers in Black Ops 6. A recast means a role was performed by someone else; it is not evidence by itself that the replacement was AI-generated. Nor does a general dispute over AI protections prove that AI was used for a particular character.

Alton said: “I sincerely hope to collaborate in the future once all performers are protected against generative AI abuse.” His statement expresses a concern about future work and protections; it does not identify the replacement voice for Peck or establish that an AI voice was used in the game.

SAG-AFTRA says the video-game strike was suspended on June 11, 2025, and members approved the 2025 Interactive Media Agreement on July 9, 2025, ending the strike. The union’s official agreement information describes consent and disclosure requirements for AI digital replicas, usage reports, and performers’ ability to suspend consent for new material during a strike.

The Associated Press summarized the agreement as requiring written permission for digital replicas and usage reports. For the contract’s precise terms, consult the union’s agreement information. These 2025 provisions should not be treated as proof of what any particular performer’s 2024 contract said, or as an explanation for an individual casting decision made during development.
The vote approving the 2025 agreement was 95.04% in favor and 4.96% against, according to SAG-AFTRA. The union also reported a 15.17% compensation increase upon ratification, followed by scheduled increases of 3% in November 2025, November 2026, and November 2027. These are agreement-wide terms; they do not establish the compensation terms of any particular Black Ops 6 performer.
