When did Directed Mode launch?
Directed Mode went live alongside Black Ops 6 Season 01 on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 9 a.m. PT, according to the official Season 01 announcement. The date is the historical launch date, not an upcoming release.

What does Directed Mode do?
It provides a guided route through a Zombies map’s Main Quest. Objectives are marked, and rounds are capped at 15 so players can progress through quest stages without the open-ended pace of a standard match. The launch announcement gives examples such as uncovering the human experiments on Terminus Island and assembling the LTG in Liberty Falls.
Side Quests and S.A.M. Trials are disabled in Directed Mode, keeping attention on the Main Quest and its story. Treyarch’s August 8, 2024 Zombies deep dive described this guided progression as a way to make the narrative more accessible while preserving the initial community Easter Egg hunt after a map launches.

Which maps had Directed Mode at launch?
The November 14 Season 01 announcement named two maps: Liberty Falls and Terminus. It listed Citadelle des Morts as mid-season content, so it was not part of the maps identified for Directed Mode’s Season 01 launch. A later official Citadelle des Morts guide also describes Directed Mode as a way to learn a map and follow its story, but that later reference should not be confused with the November 14 launch announcement.

Choose Directed Mode if you want objective guidance and a bounded route through a map’s Main Quest, especially when learning its story or quest steps. The standard experience is the better fit if you want to explore more freely, pursue side activities, or take part in the initial community hunt for a map’s Easter Egg.
