Generator in the church, build or obtain the Jet Gun, assemble the L.T.G., charge and return two Aether Canisters, solve the Strauss Counter projector puzzle, then survive the three-phase church encounter. The quest is also called the Liberty Falls main Easter Egg, “Bye-Bye, Dark Aether.”
What you need before starting
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, with access to the Liberty Falls map.
- The Jet Gun (Thrustodyne M23), needed to collect the floating L.T.G. components.
- A plan to protect yourself while interacting with objectives. The quest works solo or with a squad; teammates can cover you during exposed tasks.
Objective prompts may appear in a different order in Directed Mode. Follow the prompts in your game while preserving the dependencies below. Call of Duty’s Liberty Falls map guide is useful for early-round orientation, but focuses on setup and solo survival rather than the full main quest.

1. Activate the Liberty Falls main quest
- Open the route to the church in the Dark Aether.
- Interact with the S.D.G. Generator on the right side of the church. A white flash indicates the quest has started.
2. Get the Jet Gun
The Jet Gun is required to vacuum up the three floating L.T.G. components. You can assemble it from parts or try to obtain it from the Mystery Box; the Box is a chance-based alternative.
Craft the Jet Gun
- Handbrake: Kill the Groundskeeper in or around the Cemetery to get the Toolshed Key. Unlock the shed in the Groundskeeper’s Yard and take the Handbrake. The Groundskeeper may appear before you activate the quest.
- Water Pressure Gauge: Take the Water Valve from the hose outside the flower shop on Washington Avenue. At Liberty Lanes, melee the panel on the right side of the bowling lanes, install the valve, and restore pressure while zombies spawn. The gauge drops when pressure is restored.
- Electrical Wires: Open the Radio House gate with a Mangler Cannon, enter, and search the piles until you find the wires. A crafted cannon or a Mangler’s ranged attack can open the gate.
- Take all three parts to the workbench in the upstairs room of the Motor Lodge and assemble the Jet Gun.
The pressure step leaves you occupied as zombies continue to spawn. Before operating the valve, clear nearby threats and have a crowd-control option ready; a squadmate can cover you.

3. Collect the L.T.G. components
Use the Jet Gun to vacuum each floating component:
- Olly’s Comics: Look in the broken ceiling.
- Buzz’s Cuts: Find it at the second-floor window. Use the nearby rooftop and truck route to get a clear line of sight.
- Church: Look above the balcony in the Dark Aether.
Assemble the three components at the workbench on the Alamo rooftop.
4. Charge and return the first Aether Canister
- Take the first canister from the S.D.G. and drop it inside the field-generator trap area between Pump & Pay and the Motor Lodge.
- Place the L.T.G. in the holder beneath the Riverside Aether cloud. Defend it from zombies until the portal completes.
- When a high-value target appears, weaken it without killing it. Lure it to the same field-generator area where you dropped the canister.
- Activate the field-generator trap and kill the target inside its area. The target must die in that field for its energy to charge the canister.
- Pick up the energized canister and return it to the S.D.G. within the 90-second return timer described in the walkthrough.
5. Solve the Strauss Counter projector puzzle
After inserting the first charged canister, take the Strauss Counter from the S.D.G. Use it near each projector to read that location’s energy color. Set the projector to the translated color shown below.

Check the projectors at Groundskeeper’s Yard, Hilltop Stairs, and the Yummy Freeze rooftop. Correctly matching all three sends energy toward Pump & Pay and reveals the next canister.
6. Charge and return the second Aether Canister
- Retrieve the revealed canister and the L.T.G.
- Take the L.T.G. to the Cemetery Aether cloud and defend the portal until it completes.
- Drop the canister in the Hill Street field-generator trap area. Weaken the high-value target, lure it into that same field, activate the trap, and kill it there.
- Pick up the charged canister and return it to the S.D.G. before its timer expires.
7. Finish the church encounter
When both charged canisters are back at the S.D.G., interact with it to start the final encounter. The fight progresses through three phases:

- Survive regular zombies and Manglers.
- Defeat a high-value Mangler.
- Defeat the final high-value Abomination.
Defeating the Abomination completes “Bye-Bye, Dark Aether.” Prepare before interacting with the S.D.G.; the walkthrough’s loadout recommendations are suggestions, not quest requirements.

In Directed Mode, the game may present objectives in a different order. Use the active in-game prompts and make sure the required pieces—Jet Gun, L.T.G., canister charging, and projector alignment—are completed as they become available.
