When was the Black Ops 7 beta, and is it still available?
Activision scheduled the beta for October 2–8, 2025. Early Access ran from October 2 at 10 a.m. PT to October 5 at 10 a.m. PT; the Open Beta followed from October 5 at 10 a.m. PT to October 8 at 10 a.m. PT. The event is over, so there is no way to join the 2025 test now. Activision’s beta schedule described the full event as running October 2 to October 8.

Activision described the Open Beta as open to all players on supported platforms; an internet connection was required. The published times and access rules are historical event terms, not current access options.
Which Game Pass plan gave Early Access?
For the 2025 beta, Activision named Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC as qualifying plans for Early Access. Ultimate covered Xbox consoles and Xbox PC; Game Pass PC applied to PC. These are the plan names and eligibility terms stated for that event, not a statement about today’s Game Pass plans or whether the released game is currently in the subscription catalog. Check the current Xbox or Microsoft Store listing for present-day availability and platform terms.

Could you play without preordering, and did you need a code?
Yes—during the Open Beta window, a preorder was not required. Players could join from October 5 at 10 a.m. PT through October 8 at 10 a.m. PT on supported platforms.
- Digital preorder: Early Access registration was automatic; no beta code was needed.
- Selected physical console preorder: Participating retailers provided a beta code at the point of sale.
- No preorder or qualifying Game Pass plan: The Open Beta was the route to play, but only while it was live.

How would you have downloaded the beta?
During the event, the beta was listed through the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Battle.net, and Steam. Eligible Early Access players could download it from the relevant platform store; digital preorder customers did not need to redeem a separate code. The publisher’s PC beta guide also specified security requirements for PC participation.
PC security requirements
Activision required TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for PC beta players and said it could enforce additional security measures. Those requirements describe the beta, not necessarily the requirements for the released game.

What can you play now?
As of October 4, 2026, the official Call of Duty site presents Black Ops 7 as a released game with current-season updates. The beta instructions above no longer provide access. Whether the full game is included in Game Pass now is not established here, so confirm current catalog inclusion and platform terms directly in the Xbox or Microsoft Store before subscribing or purchasing.
