Black Ops 7 has two different XP systems to keep straight: player-owned Double XP Tokens, which you activate from the Token Menu, and server-controlled Double XP events, which apply only during an announced promotion window. Tokens count down in real time—even in menus—so activate them only when you are ready to play.
How to activate a Double XP Token in Black Ops 7
- From the Black Ops 7 main menu, open the rectangular icon cluster in the bottom-right corner. This is the Token Menu.
- Use the reported shortcut if preferred: L3 on PlayStation, LS on Xbox, or 3 on PC.
- Select the token tile you want to use. Reported categories are Double XP (green), Double Weapon XP (blue), and Double Battle Pass XP (orange).
According to third-party documentation, selecting a token activates it immediately; there is no reported confirmation prompt. The shortcut labels and Token Menu location are not currently documented in a complete Activision-published control guide, so the on-screen layout may be the best reference if your platform or version differs. What the different tokens do

Do not confuse Battle Pass XP with Battle Pass Tokens. Activision says gameplay XP contributes to earning Battle Pass Tokens, which unlock Battle Pass tiers. The paid Base Battle Pass includes a 10% Battle Pass XP Boost; that is not the same thing as an officially documented Double Battle Pass XP Token. Token durations and the timer rule
Reported token lengths are 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and one hour. Once activated, the timer runs in real time rather than only during matches. It continues while you are:

A countdown appears after activation. Because the clock does not pause between games, the safest approach is to finish your setup first: choose a mode, prepare your Loadout, enter matchmaking, and activate the token when you can spend most of its duration playing.
Can you activate multiple tokens?
Third-party guides report that multiple tokens can be active at once, including tokens of different types. That does not establish that activating two Double XP tokens produces “4XP.” The available reporting does not prove that same-category tokens multiply each other, and it conflicts on how event and token bonuses stack.

Treat different token types as separate effects unless the game’s current UI clearly states otherwise. Do not activate valuable tokens on the assumption that identical boosts will multiply.

Global Double XP events
A global Double XP event is a server-controlled, date-bounded promotion. It applies during the published event window and is not an item that you spend from your inventory. You do not need to activate an event token for the event bonus itself.
There is no verified fixed monthly schedule. Activision’s Season 05 patch notes, published July 22, 2026, list seasonal events and XP-awarding weekly challenges but do not provide a recurring Double XP calendar. A current event date cannot be confirmed from the available official information, including for August 7, 2026.

How the Monster Energy promotion worked
Activision’s Monster Energy promotion used a two-stage code process:
- On the Monster Energy website, choose Redeem, select the retailer, enter the tab code, and submit it.
- Each eligible tab code produced a separate 2XP code.
- Redeem that 2XP code on the Call of Duty redemption page.
- Each successfully redeemed 2XP code granted one 15-minute 2XP Token for Black Ops 7.
Sign in with the Activision account linked to the platform account you use for Black Ops 7 before redeeming the 2XP code. Tokens are banked for use in the game.

This promotion is no longer available for new code redemption as of September 2026: Monster tab codes had to be redeemed by March 31, 2026. Some retailer-specific promotions had different deadlines, including one listed deadline of April 30, 2026. Tokens obtained before the deadlines do not have to be used by those dates.
What to do if a promotional code fails
- No second code after the tab code is accepted: contact Monster Energy support.
- The 2XP code fails on the Call of Duty redemption page: contact Activision support.
- The token does not appear: restart Black Ops 7 and check the inventory again. Activision specifically recommends restarting when content is missing after a successful redemption.
Promotion limits
Activision listed these limits for the promotion:
- One Monster Energy tab-code redemption per person per day.
- A maximum of 40 hours of each 2XP-token type per account across promotions.
- A maximum of one hour of each token type usable in-game per day.
Battle Pass details that are easy to confuse with XP tokens
The official Battle Pass system uses Battle Pass Tokens to unlock tiers. It is separate from the reported orange Double Battle Pass XP token category.
- The Base Battle Pass costs 1,100 Call of Duty Points and includes a 10% Battle Pass XP Boost.
- The Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 Call of Duty Points, includes 20 Battle Pass Tokens, and includes the 10% Battle Pass XP Boost.
- At the end of a Season, unspent earned or purchased Battle Pass Tokens are automatically spent on remaining rewards along a preset path; they do not necessarily remain indefinitely.

Do older Double XP Tokens carry over?
Some third-party guides claim that all unused Double XP Tokens from Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, and Warzone automatically carry into Black Ops 7. The reviewed Activision sources do not confirm that complete cross-game carry-forward rule. Do not rely on it as an official guarantee; check the in-game inventory and current Activision support information for your account.

- Complete Loadout and class changes before activating it.
- Choose a mode and queue for a match first.
- Use longer tokens when you expect uninterrupted play.
- Use short tokens when you have enough time for at least one or two matches.
- Do not activate a token merely to test the menu, visit the Firing Range, or wait in a lobby.
- Track the countdown and avoid assuming a match will pause the timer.
There is no command syntax for activating, earning, or redeeming Black Ops 7 Double XP events or tokens; the process is handled through the in-game Token Menu and the official redemption pages.
