Blasphemy quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker: Find Premysl and save Gremla

To save Gremla in the “Blasphemy” quest, make Premysl return the stolen banner and reject his request to keep the theft secret. The quest begins at Gremla’s house in Laslea Glen, takes one time segment, is available only during the day, and must be finished before Sacred Covenant. If you agree to hide Premysl’s crime, you receive the Daylight Amulet, but Gremla is killed and displayed in the church during Blood Mass.

This walkthrough covers the investigation, Premysl’s location, every reported dialogue outcome, guide-reported rewards, and what to do if an objective does not advance. Some guides call the stolen item a “tapestry”; the quest instructions use “banner.”

Quest facts at a glance

Item Details
Quest giver Gremla, at her house in Laslea Glen
Quest type Day-only investigation during the prologue
Time cost One time segment
Deadline Complete it before Sacred Covenant
Thief Premysl, at the northeastern edge of the search area
Best outcome for Gremla Persuade Premysl to return the banner
Alternative reward Daylight Amulet, in exchange for keeping Premysl’s secret

Before you begin: plan around the daytime deadline

“Blasphemy” is not an endlessly available side quest. The quest database and walkthroughs describe it as day-only and costing one time segment. PowerPyx also places its deadline before Sacred Covenant. The exact calendar position can shift depending on what else you do in the prologue, so do not advance into later story events while intending to return to Gremla. Start the investigation while the quest is visible and resolve it in the same available window.

The quest is designed as a short clue trail rather than a combat encounter. You do not need to fight anyone or complete every villager conversation. Focus Mode is the important tool: it reveals the physical evidence that makes Premysl identifiable.

Step-by-step walkthrough

1. Accept Gremla’s request in Laslea Glen

Go to Gremla’s house in Laslea Glen and offer to help. She explains that the banner she was weaving for Brencis has been stolen. Accepting starts the investigation and places the search around her home and the nearby village area.

2. Inspect the loom with Focus Mode

Enter the shed and activate Focus Mode while looking at the loom. This is the first required investigation point. The loom establishes where the theft occurred; ordinary interaction without Focus Mode may not advance the objective.

3. Examine the footprints and cane mark

After inspecting the loom, use Focus Mode around the shed and follow the footprints leading away from it. Look for the cane mark beside the trail. The mark is the key physical clue: the culprit uses a cane.

#1 Best Overall
THE BLOOD OF DAWNWALKER: Day 1 Edition - PlayStation 5
  • Day 1 Edition includes the Base Game Disc, Steelbook, and World Map.
  • Make The Story Your Own - Experience and shape the plot the way you want. Embark on the quest to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley. Rush in head first or risk taking time to prepare. Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.
  • Day And Night - Experience two different gameplay loops, offering distinct abilities to choose from, mysteries to uncover, and varying ways to achieve your goals. Experiment with different approaches and discover how the world reacts to your actions.
  • Every Action Matters - Every action - and inaction - shapes the world around you. Your family’s days are numbered, and every time you take on a quest, time moves forward, compelling you closer to the end. Choose carefully whom to help and whom to leave behind. You will not have time for everyone. The world waits for no one. And neither does the villain.

4. Turn over the torn banner scrap

Continue along the trail until you find the torn scrap of the banner. Inspect it, then use the prompt to turn it over. The reverse side reveals blood. Coen’s inference combines the evidence into a specific profile: the thief walks with a cane and injured a hand while taking the banner.

  • Loom: confirms the theft scene.
  • Footprints and cane mark: indicate a cane user.
  • Blood on the reverse of the scrap: indicates an injured hand.

Do not leave after finding only the scrap. Turning it over is the action that completes the clue sequence and enables the villager-search objective.

5. Search for villagers who match the clues

Use Focus Mode to inspect villagers in the search area and speak with the people who can comment on the clues. The optional conversations with Otokar and Dana add context but are not required to finish the quest. Dana can mention that Premysl has complained about the vrakhiri desecrating the church, which helps explain his motive.

  • BECOME THE DAWNWALKER — Play as Coen, a man transformed into a Dawnwalker who walks the line between humanity and vampiric power as he fights to save those he loves.
  • SHAPE YOUR OWN DESTINY — Make meaningful choices that determine alliances, revenge, family loyalties, and the fate of the valley through a branching narrative RPG experience.
  • DAY AND NIGHT GAMEPLAY — Master two distinct gameplay styles with different abilities, opportunities, mysteries, and approaches that change depending on the time of day.
  • SWORD CLAWS AND DARK POWERS — Wield weapons and magic as a human by day or unleash supernatural vampire abilities, enhanced mobility, and devastating combat skills by night.
  • A WORLD WHERE TIME MATTERS — Every quest advances time and brings your family closer to their fate, forcing difficult decisions about who to save and what to sacrifice.

The objective does not require an exhaustive interview. Once the cane-villager search objective has been completed, you can proceed directly to Premysl. If you want the investigation dialogue and background, speak with the available villagers first; if you are trying to conserve the time segment, move on as soon as the objective updates.

6. Find Premysl at the northeastern edge

Premysl is at the northeastern edge of the search area, normally sitting outside the house there. Approach him after the villager-search step and confront him about the stolen banner. You do not need another hidden clue or a separate combat encounter to unlock this conversation.

7. Choose whether to save Gremla or take the amulet

Premysl argues that stealing the banner was justified. Your response determines the quest’s visible outcome.

  1. To save Gremla: reject Premysl’s argument and persuade him to return the banner. Then go back to Gremla and report that the banner has been secured or returned.
  2. To take the Daylight Amulet: agree to keep Premysl’s secret. He keeps the banner and gives you the amulet. You can still report back to Gremla, but the later event will not have the banner outcome.
  3. To refuse without agreeing: choose the response equivalent to telling Premysl that he has not convinced you. This produces the lower Premysl reward and does not give the amulet.

The safest dialogue strategy for Gremla is simple: do not agree that the theft was justified. Select the persuasion route that makes Premysl return the banner.

8. Report back to Gremla

Return to Gremla’s house after the Premysl conversation. If you secured the banner, report its return. If you disclosed or secured the banner through the other branch, select the affirmative report. The dialogue option “No. I’m sorry.” is the refusal branch and carries the smaller reported reward.

Outcome comparison

Decision at Premysl Gremla Banner at Blood Mass Daylight Amulet
Persuade Premysl to return the banner Survives Displayed during Blood Mass No
Agree to keep Premysl’s secret Killed and displayed in the church during the evening event Not displayed as the returned banner Yes
Decline to agree with Premysl Does not produce the secret-keeping reward route Depends on whether you subsequently secure and report the banner No

The most dramatic difference occurs at Blood Mass. Returning the banner allows it to be displayed and leaves Gremla alive. Keeping Premysl’s secret leads to Gremla’s death and her display in the church during the evening event. PC Gamer reports no known effect beyond the prologue from this choice; that is a guide assessment, not a developer-confirmed guarantee about every later consequence.

Reported rewards for each dialogue branch

The figures below are in-game rewards reported by PowerPyx in 2026. They may be version-sensitive, so treat them as guide-reported values rather than permanently guaranteed numbers.

Action Reported reward
Persuade Premysl to return the banner 250 XP
Agree with Premysl and keep his secret 500 XP and the Daylight Amulet
Tell Premysl he has not convinced you 250 XP
Report the returned or disclosed banner to Gremla 325 XP and 25 Denarius
Tell Gremla “No. I’m sorry.” 75 XP

The 500 XP branch is therefore not the “best” outcome in every sense: it gives the largest reported experience payment and the unique amulet, but it costs Gremla her life. The return route gives fewer reported experience points while preserving the character and producing the banner display at Blood Mass.

Recommended route if you want the best Gremla outcome

  1. Visit Gremla in Laslea Glen during the day.
  2. Accept the request concerning Brencis’s banner.
  3. Use Focus Mode on the loom in the shed.
  4. Inspect the footprints and the cane mark.
  5. Examine the torn scrap and turn it over to reveal blood.
  6. Complete the cane-villager search objective. Speak with Otokar and Dana only if you want their optional context.
  7. Go to the house at the northeastern edge of the search area and confront Premysl.
  8. Reject his justification and persuade him to return the banner.
  9. Return to Gremla and report the banner’s return.

This route uses the quest’s single time segment efficiently and guarantees the outcome most players mean when they ask how to save Gremla.

What happens if you choose Premysl’s secret?

If you agree with Premysl, he retains the stolen banner and rewards you with the Daylight Amulet. Gremla’s later scene changes: during Blood Mass she is killed and displayed in the church during the evening event. Choose this route only if the amulet and the higher reported XP matter more to you than preserving Gremla and seeing the banner displayed.

There is no need to complete additional investigation dialogue after accepting the secret. Once Premysl gives the amulet, return to Gremla if you want to finish the conversation and receive the branch-specific report reward.

Troubleshooting the investigation

The quest will not advance after inspecting the loom

Re-enter Focus Mode and inspect the loom from the shed rather than relying on a normal interaction prompt. The footprints should then become searchable nearby.

You found the scrap but the clue is incomplete

Inspect the scrap again and use the turn-over action. The blood clue is on the reverse side; merely examining the visible side does not complete the deduction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Premysl is not marked or does not appear as an objective

Finish the cane-villager search objective first. The optional villager conversations are not all required, but the investigation step itself must register before you confront him. Then check the northeastern edge of the search area and look outside the house, where he is usually seated.

You are worried about missing the quest

Check the time of day and your remaining time segment before starting unrelated activities. Because the quest is day-only and must be completed before Sacred Covenant, delaying it into later prologue events can remove the intended opportunity.

Banner or tapestry: why guides use both terms

Walkthroughs use “banner” and “tapestry” for the same stolen item. The objective and dialogue may use one wording while a guide uses the other. If you see either term in a quest description, it refers to Gremla’s work for Brencis, the item found through the loom-and-scrap investigation, and the object that can appear during Blood Mass after you secure its return.

Final decision guide

  • Choose the return route if your priority is Gremla’s survival and the banner display at Blood Mass.
  • Choose the secret route if your priority is the Daylight Amulet and the highest reported XP branch.
  • Do not agree but also do not secure the banner if you want neither the amulet nor the full Gremla-preservation outcome; this is the least rewarding practical branch.

For a first playthrough, returning the banner is the clearest resolution: it completes the investigation, preserves Gremla, and avoids the irreversible church scene that follows Premysl’s secret.
