The update promised overhauled environments and lighting, a revamped interface, HD versions of classic assets players could mix and match, in-game hotkey customization, and a revamped ladder. Blizzard said it was available to everyone who owned Reforged.
What Blizzard announced in Reforged 2.0
The Direct presented patch 2.0 as a broad visual and quality-of-life refresh, rather than a single-feature update. Its named changes were:
- Overhauled environments and lighting.
- A revamped user interface.
- HD versions of classic Warcraft III assets.
- The ability to customize and mix asset types.
- In-game hotkey customization.
- A revamped ladder.
Blizzard also teased “much, much more,” but the announcement transcript does not itemize those additional changes. For the launch feature list and event context, see Wowhead’s November 13, 2024 event coverage and transcript.
How the visual options were meant to work
The presentation described HD versions of classic assets and said players could customize and mix asset types. That gives players some choice over how the game looks; the announcement did not spell out every combination or explain whether every asset could be switched independently.

What “when something is broken, you fix it” meant
Brad Chan, identified in contemporaneous coverage as Warcraft RTS senior manager, framed the update around a repair principle. PC Gamer reported his statement as: “When something is broken, you fix it. When something is wrong, you make it right. And if things aren’t good enough, you make them better.” PC Gamer’s November 13, 2024 report also characterized the update as an attempt to address the poor reception of the original Reforged release.
The quote is a statement of intent, not evidence that every issue was fixed. The launch announcement establishes what Blizzard said patch 2.0 would include; it does not establish how well those changes worked for players or what later updates changed.

The same Direct covered the releases of Warcraft I Remastered and Warcraft II Remastered, as well as a Warcraft Battle Chest. Those were separate parts of the anniversary news; the announcement did not say that the bundle was required to receive the Reforged update.
