For Borderlands 4 on PC, the official requirement is 100 GB of available storage, and the game requires an SSD. That is a free-space requirement—not a measured download size or proof that the installed game occupies exactly 100 GB. Official sources checked do not establish a current installed or download size for every platform.
What is the Borderlands 4 file size?
The clearest official figure is for PC: 100 GB of available space. The Borderlands Support PC requirements, published June 17, 2025 and updated May 29, 2026, list 100 GB for both minimum and recommended configurations and specify SSD storage. The Epic Games Store listing also lists 100 GB for minimum and recommended PC storage requirements and says an SSD is required.
Neither figure is a reported download size or a measured installed footprint. Available space is the amount of free storage the PC requirement calls for; it should not be treated as an exact prediction of the space the game files will occupy after installation.
Does “surprisingly small” apply to every version?
No cross-platform size is established by the official figures above. 2K’s September 12, 2025 launch announcement says the game became available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC that day, with Nintendo Switch 2 availability beginning October 3, 2025. The announcement does not give file sizes for those platforms.

Why reported sizes can differ
A file-size report is only useful when it identifies what was measured. Download size, installed size, and required free space are different quantities. The result can also vary by platform, game version, updates, edition, and installed add-ons. Community posts surfaced in search give inconsistent, anecdotal figures, so they do not resolve the current size for any platform.

- Download size: the data transferred to install a particular build; it may not match the resulting installed footprint.
- Installed size: the space occupied by the files actually installed, which can change with updates and optional content.
What PC players should plan for
For PC, make sure an SSD is available and that at least 100 GB of storage is free to meet the published requirement. The support page also lists minimum target performance of 1080p at 30 FPS on Low and recommended target performance of 1440p at 60 FPS on Medium; those are PC targets, not console specifications. The 100 GB figure does not guarantee that an installation with later updates or add-ons will occupy exactly that amount.
