Frank the Furnace is one of the Foundry Freaks, a three-boss encounter at The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, Fadefields. Clear the Ripper waves inside the site to make Frank, Hank the Welder, and Sal the Engineer appear. Frank’s reported dedicated legendary drop is the homing grenade Chaumurky; no verified drop-rate percentage is available.
Where to find Frank the Furnace
Travel to The Pitted Stain, a Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, within the Fadefields. The site is in southern Idolator’s Noose, near the coast and southwest of Fortress Indomita. Frank does not appear immediately: enter the drill site and defeat the Ripper waves first. Then the Foundry Freaks trio—Frank, Hank the Welder, and Sal—spawns.

How to reach and clear The Pitted Stain
- Head to southern Idolator’s Noose in the Fadefields and locate The Pitted Stain near the coast, southwest of Fortress Indomita.
- Enter the Ripper Drill Site and clear the enemies in its waves.
- When the waves are defeated, engage the three Foundry Freaks bosses.
How to fight the Foundry Freaks
The trio combines close-range pressure, fire, and ranged hazards. Keep moving, use cover and longer sightlines where possible, and concentrate damage on one boss at a time rather than spreading it across all three. Mobalytics recommends eliminating the melee pursuers Hank and Sal before focusing on Frank.
Match damage to the health bars
Mobalytics and All Things How recommend corrosive damage against the bosses’ armor bars, followed by incendiary damage against their flesh bars; Mobalytics also lists cryo as effective against armor. These are guide recommendations, not independently verified testing.

Use a surviving enemy for Second Wind
If you are downed, leaving a weakened Ripper alive may give you a nearby target to defeat for Second Wind. Avoid clearing every enemy before the boss fight if you want to preserve that option.
Frank the Furnace’s loot drops
Frank’s dedicated legendary drop is identified as Chaumurky, a homing grenade. The cited guides do not establish a verified percentage chance, so the item is not guaranteed on every clear.

The trio guides also attribute Chuck to Hank and a Lumberjack item to Sal. The Sal item’s name is inconsistent: All Things How calls it Bloody Lumberjack, while Mobalytics lists Lumberjack. Treat that name as unresolved rather than assuming the two entries are identical.
How to farm Frank and the Foundry Freaks
- Clear the Ripper waves and defeat the trio at The Pitted Stain.
- Sweep the arena for loot.
- Use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena entrance to respawn the encounter. Its fee is described as scaling with level.
- Clear the waves and bosses again, then repeat the loop. A nearby ammo vending machine can be used to sell unwanted drops.
This loop is a targeted way to pursue Frank’s Chaumurky, not a verified fastest method for general loot or cash. Available guides do not provide controlled comparisons of clear times or drop rates.

Loot levels and game updates
Gearbox and 2K’s January 29, 2026 support notes state that “Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode levels now increasing dedicated loot drop levels.” That establishes an effect on dedicated loot levels as players progress through that mode, but does not specifically confirm the Foundry Freaks’ drop table. For current behavior, consult the latest patch notes and check the game version you are playing.
