If Borderlands 4 says your SHiFT account must be confirmed, first confirm the email address on the SHiFT account you use, then check that your gaming platform is linked to that same account. Fully close and relaunch the game after making changes. These are troubleshooting steps recommended by a secondary guide, not a guaranteed or officially confirmed fix; if the message remains, contact 2K or Borderlands support.
1. Confirm the email address on your SHiFT account
Sign in to the SHiFT account you intend to use and check whether its email address has been confirmed. If it is not, look for the confirmation email and complete the link in it. The account-confirmation check is recommended in Nerd’s Chalk’s September 14, 2025 guide; it is not an official diagnosis of the error.

2. Check the platform link
While signed in to that SHiFT account, verify that the platform where you play Borderlands 4 is linked. The guide’s checklist names Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic. Make sure you are checking the account you actually use in-game, rather than a different SHiFT account that happens to have a confirmed email.
3. Fully restart Borderlands 4
After confirming the email or changing a platform link, exit the game completely and launch it again. The guide suggests this so the game can refresh its account state. A restart may help it recognize an account change, but it is not a guaranteed fix.

4. Contact support if the message persists
If the email is confirmed, the correct platform is linked, and a full restart has not cleared the message, use the 2K Support landing page to reach the Borderlands Help Center or submit a support request. The page is a general support route, not an error-specific explanation.
What is known about this message
The available account-check and restart steps come from a secondary guide. A Reddit discussion includes the player wording “Shift account must be confirmed” and an anecdotal report from someone who believed their account was already connected, but that discussion does not establish the cause or how often the issue occurs: Reddit discussion.
