Borderlands 4’s field-of-view (FoV) slider is no longer missing on consoles: a September 25, 2025 update added it to Xbox and PlayStation. The official settings list does not show a motion-blur toggle. If you see blur on console, Gearbox says it may be tied to your TV or monitor settings.
What changed with Borderlands 4’s FoV settings?
At launch on September 12, 2025, console players did not have the FoV slider. Gearbox added it for Xbox and PlayStation in the September 25 update, so descriptions of FoV as still missing on those platforms are out of date. The update warns that increasing FoV beyond the default may cause performance dips, but does not quantify them or recommend a universal setting. Official Borderlands 4 update notes.
The available official notes do not specify the slider’s numeric range or a consistent menu path across game versions and localizations. Check the current in-game settings on your platform rather than relying on a claimed maximum or a menu location that may not match your build.
Is there a motion-blur toggle?
Gearbox’s Borderlands 4 accessibility settings and options list Screen Shake Intensity and Camera Head-bob under Gameplay, but do not list a motion-blur toggle. The same page says: “For console players if you’re seeing Motion Blur, it may be tied to your TV or monitor settings.” That is a possibility, not confirmation that every instance of perceived blur comes from the display.

How to troubleshoot blur on console
- Check the game’s nearby camera controls. Review Screen Shake Intensity and Camera Head-bob in the Gameplay settings. These are listed controls, not a motion-blur switch.
- Compare display-processing settings. If blur remains, check your TV or monitor’s motion-processing options. Gearbox identifies display settings as a possible source of console motion blur, but does not name a specific setting or prescribe a value.
- Change one setting at a time. Recheck the image after each adjustment so you can tell whether the change helped; results depend on the display and setup.
What to expect when raising FoV
A wider FoV shows more of the scene, but Gearbox cautions that values above the default may cause performance dips. The official note gives no measured loss, exact threshold, or recommended FoV value. Increase it gradually and compare the wider view with performance stability on your own system.
PC graphics changes and shader recompilation
Gearbox’s September 13, 2025 PC guidance said shader recompilation after changing graphics settings may take up to 15 minutes. Treat that as guidance for the update and conditions it described, not a guaranteed duration for every system or current build. Official Borderlands 4 update notes.

2K lists Borderlands 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A January 2026 update note discusses vehicle FoV behavior in splitscreen and PC mouse-smoothing options; it does not say the general FoV feature was removed. Official Borderlands 4 update notes.
