Minister Screw is the boss at the end of The War on Mercenary Day, inside the Ministry of Culture in the Fadefields. Start that side mission by inspecting a gift in a major hub; The Launchpad is a convenient choice because it is also in the Fadefields.
How to start The War on Mercenary Day
- Visit a major hub and inspect the gift to begin The War on Mercenary Day. The walkthrough recommends The Launchpad in the Fadefields.
- If the gift is not available, progress the main story and check the hub again.
How to reach Minister Screw
- Follow the mission’s gift-delivery objectives until it takes you to the Ministry of Culture area.
- At the Synthetic Nave, north of Zadra’s Backup Plan, interact with the Ministry sign to infiltrate the building.
- Continue through the Ministry objectives to the landing zone and boss arena. The final encounter is against Minister Screw and Donk together.
The gift in a hub is the mission start; the Ministry of Culture is where you find the boss. The Ministry of Culture is in the Fadefields, as also identified by Lootlemon’s Kairos location reference. The route and mission steps are detailed in Game8’s walkthrough.

Who to fight first
Donk can deploy a shield dome that protects Minister Screw from damage coming from outside it. If the dome is making Screw difficult to hit, focus on Donk first, then turn your attention to Screw.
Mission content and access context
2K described Minister Screw as a target players take down with Rush in Bounty Pack 1, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day. The publisher announced the pack as free for Borderlands 4 players when it released on November 20, 2025; that announcement establishes its launch terms, not its current access conditions.
