NYT Connections for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, is puzzle #891. The board has 16 words to sort into four groups of four. Start with the graduated hints below if you want to solve it yourself; the complete groups are marked as spoilers farther down.

STONE, PARASITE, GRAPE, JOKER, ROMA, BERRY, RIOT, NEEDLEPOINT, COMMONPLACE, CLOWN, SWANK, PLUM, MADISON, SUNSPOT, CHERRY, LAUGH.

Hints for each group

Try the clues before opening the categories or full answers:

  • Yellow: A comedian or someone who jokes often.
  • Green: Varieties of a popular red fruit.
  • Blue: Actresses who have won the Best Actress Oscar.
  • Purple: Think about what might be scouted before a movie shoot; each word ends in a synonym for “location.”

  • Blue: Best Actress Oscar winners
  • Purple: Endings that are synonyms for “location”

Yellow — Funny person: CLOWN, JOKER, LAUGH, RIOT.

The purple connection is in the final word segments: PLACE, POINT, SITE, and SPOT can each mean a location.
